the pak fa currently doesn't have all the physical characteristics of a 5th gen fighter. It's more of a stealth modified flanker with is exposed fan blades, engines, 2 piece canopy. It seems like a rushed job with it's exposed riveting, it needs a overhaul.

Jet engines will be replaced so you're right in this being as experimental as the YF-22 when it first started out. Russian's don't depend on shape for stealth - PLASMA is their secret and so a 2 piece canopy for durability is of no concern.
