  • Fuck! I wish I had thought of this! :)

  • Awsome job :)

  • where do I get one

  • how much fluid did you use here?

  • i should be doing my homework....

  • Hax

  • I WHANT WHUN

  • Dude, pacman... on this resolution? Long way to go.

But while watching discovery science (i gues) i saw this theory that in the future we can probably build up 3D shapes uit of a ton of small objects. Made me think, what if we had an epic fluid capable of that... AND HERE IT IS!

If you could learn to fully controll this, you could have some epic aquarium with Ferro Fish! I aint saying it's do-able, but im quite sure it will be some day.

  • @iRicecrispy it should be do-able.. watch "ferrofluid in water". my guess is that you make a mechanic fish, with a magnetic field. dip it in ferrofluid and throw it in a aquarium.

P.s. I´m not cleaing the fish after.. :P

  • That's pretty cool.....you should make a FerroFluid Pac Man, or Pong next!!!

  • lol

  • Great idea.

it reminds me a braille display.

  • already building the Terminator?

  • extremely genius!

  • So In Theory Could You Make a portable circuit board that could make the fluid take shape....lets say like a dog and programming to make it act as so??

  • this is racist!

  • @XXXxxxGAVESxxxXXX how is this racism?

  • @XXXxxxGAVESxxxXXX How so?

  • could u imagine halo or call of duty like this.....u would make billions in a day!!!

  • hehe cool idea!

  • lol snake oil

  • this is a breakthrough ,,, gr8 job

  • hahahha snake? you serious? good stuff

  • amazing. way to reinvent a clasic

  • just WOW!

  • that's insanely cool.

  • well done!

  • where can i BUY one? xD

  • I want to see how it works... but I also don't want you to take it apart! :'o

  • Incredible... It's awesome man i watched the video 3 times at once...

  • Wow, that is freakin awesome!

  • How much energy does it use to display each magnetic square (1/144) ?

  • wow you actually build that , sell your ivention thats genious!

  • i suggest you put a d-pad on it

  • cool.

I wonder what happens if you drink it and go thru security or get a MR at hospital?

I guess you'd look like sweating black ferro thru your skin like the crying effect in japan animes.

  • either that melnorm or the oil would kill you lol

  • EYZE YAFE !!!

    oXo

  • you are a genius!!!!! all my respect men...

  • Einstein!!!!:)

  • OMG THATS FUCKIN SWEET DUDE!

  • Excellent Work

Genious, that's the type of art that i love.

  • exellent work

  • Why is it tilt sensitive, I mean the stuff is liquid why not control it remotely.

  • whoa, thats so bizarre,

does it runs Mac OSX 10.5.4 on it?

    i love it!

  • AWESOME!!

  • holy shit this is awesome

  • lmfg i want itttttttt

  • Nice Work!.

  • wow love how its build

  • what happened to tetris? :)

  • cool

  • AWESOME ! :-O

  • you suck at the game but thats so cool!

  • OHH looks like Nintendo has some competition over here

  • Actually Ferrofluid has many possible uses. Look it up if you want.

  • NASA invented it.. i don't think it's useless

  • it was created to guide fuel around the fuel tanks in outer space, theres no gravity, so this stuff guides the fuel

  • This would make a great "fountain" type thing in a public place. . .like a mall lobby. A huge fixed array, with the ferrofluid sealed under a layer of glass. Shows and ads and stuff could run on it. . .

  • im impressed

  • bought some of this fluid from unitednucleardotcom, they sell it in vials from 4ml($3.00us)to 175ml($65.00us), as well as magnets of various sizes. Some of them are HUGE and come with strong warnings not to even walk through a room with a T.V. or monitor while carrying one of these, or it will suck the picture right off!!! If you are holding one with your credit card in your wallet, it will whipe it clean from 20 feet away!!

  • BEWARE!! This stuff is VERY messy, it is just like motor oil when it is not next to a magnet and will stain everything! When it is stuck to a magnet, it feels like a firm yet squishy jell. I guess they mixed iron powder with petroleum oil to make this stuff.

  • I called the Ghostbusters.

  • cool. I was looking to buy it , but it seems so expensive, isnt it just small iron fillings in a liquid?

i need like a liter, i`m not gonna spend like 400 bucks on it!

how much is that thing in the video? maybe its cheaper to take it out of that :)

  • actually, it's water with soap and nano magnetic particles. when a magnet activates, all particles near it clump together around the magnet.

  • thats cool, the boards look really well constructed too.

just an ignorant question though, what happens if you put a steel ball on top instead of the ferrofluid? does it get dragged around in the snake pattern?

  • wonderful electronic system!

  • clever..

  • that is really cool... i want one

  • OMGWOW.

  • wonderful!!

  • Great!

    Thanks.

  • Very impressive. Thanks for sharing your invention with us.

  • Nice!

And: xSokomi (1 month ago) marked as spam

So what happens if it spills?

  • That was really cool, great vid! what a wild discovery. this is the beginning of something awesome. how long has "ferrofluid" been a known substance?

  • Excellent idea and ingenious design. Definitely has a lot of potential for further development. To those who are criticising it, look beyond the game. It was chosen to demonstrate the potential of ferromagnetic nanoparticles and scalable circuit design. The 'oil' is essentially an aqueous solution of copper sulphate or manganese chloride - with the ferromagnetic nanoparticles (magnetite, hematite or iron-containing particles) suspended within it...

  • cool idea ...

    germans rocks a lot ;)

  • real crap. too sensitive + pointless

  • You are crap with your comment. Fuck you.

  • next gen TETRIS ??

  • nothing cheap or boring about this

  • Cool, sounds like a lot of fun to build something like that.

  • cool, but not as good as LCD :P

  • So what happens if it spills?

  • me like

  • too much lag...

  • Great project !! Have any website about the detail?

  • could be used as a means of propulsion, hydrolics etc..

  • yeh, cool but useless.

  • I never knew oil was magnetic.

  • Thats neat but really pointless

  • this guy sucks at snake. pshh.

  • kinda cool, if your a nerd (like me!~)

What is that thought, no details?

  • snake oil

  • Thats really entertaining

  • looks hard. and i wonder if there's glass or something so you don't spill the crap all over

  • DUDE ITS SNAKE I FREKEN LOVE THIS GAME lol i want one now what an idea using protrude fluid and a game like this on try tetris!!!!

  • Nice idea!...no sound/music?

  • Ok and... what that change in my life ?

  • thats so cool

  • A bit boring tho

  • Interesting idea.

  • Woah, that's crazy as hell! A little creepy, but still crazy.
