  • funny how it took boxing a long ass time to even get to worldwide popularity. it took ufc (mma) 10 years to get popular worldwide

  • @ageeeeeeeeee thats because back when boxing was starting to get very big in America (lets say around 1910 or so) there was no TV, internet or phones so people around the world had no clue about boxing. Even when mma was in its early years it got famous on TV because it was so controversial at the time. A few years later, the internet was set up which obviously helped it allot. Plus the UFC and Dana White have marketed it so well because they have the means to do so now.

  • @TheRozza333 boxing was popular only in the U.S Europe mexico Puerto Rico and some parts of Russia.

  • @ageeeeeeeeee What about... Argentina? Nigeria? CUBA????? Japan? ENGLAND??? Need i go on for the next 50 countries?

  • @Gooseman2k2 boxing is not popular there futbol is. japan has kickboxing and boxing is slowly declining in england

  • @ageeeeeeeeee Boxing is at an HISTORIC high in england... Amir Khan, David Haye, Carl Froch? 3 world champions and bonified stars! Boxing is still huge in every country to be honest... and so what if countries have other sports... EVERY country has other sports! Boxing is nearly ALWAYS second to Football in every country.

  • @Gooseman2k2 actualy boxing is only huge in latin america excluding south america some parts of europe and some parts of russia it really isnt popular around the world. boxing is 4th. boxing is not pop in asia kickboxing and mma are in the philipines boxing is not pop just manny paq is.

  • @ageeeeeeeeee You know you really have no idea what you are talking about... Saying something doesn't make it true... Also when i say second to football, I mean that figuratively wether it's 2nd or 15th! Pacman is the MOST famous person in the phillipines! When a Manny fight is on... Crime in the Phillipines drops to 0%!!!! That alone should tell you how stupid your statement is! There are fewer than 5 countries in the world where MMA is more popular than boxing...

  • @Gooseman2k2 manny paq is the face of boxing. in asia not including the phillipines mma is very popular. so please enough bullshit.

  • @ageeeeeeeeee fuck me... they are both global sports that are badass. I love ufc but i am also sooo fucking exited about the Haye vs Klitchko boxing fight. I agree that this boxing vs mma bullshit needs to stop. I now realize that its just childish. mma fans are never going to convince boxing fans and vice versa so lets just admit that there is a stalemate. There is room in the world for both sports cuz at the end of the day, we humans love to see violence and fighting.

  • @TheRozza333 yeah i am excited to see wlad and haye and ufc 132 in one night

  • @HeroCasey don't worry, he'll get another one

  • @PattyCarnage91

lol ok... i fail. good job providing proof to your claim.

  • i wont ace back on top his a good fighter he had some grate fights n his time

  • i think its self explanatory why MMA is better and more exciting than boxing.

For example, in a boxing match, you know that the 2 guys are stand toe to toe and punch eachother.

In an MMA match, you could have a striker and a wrestler, but the wrestler could have the confidence to stand up with the striker and knock his ass out, and shock everybody. You cant have that level of amazement in boxing.

Not to mention that MMA has body slams, throws, vicious ground and pound...etc

  • BOXING IS A WORK OF ART....MMA IS SHIT

  • @negaws

boxing is a work of art? mma is shit?

then why the fuck are you here? to troll perhaps?

Ill say it again, boxing is the art of punching.

MMA is the art of kicks, knees, punches, wrestling, judo, jiu-jiutsu, ground and pound, clinches, and much more.

    Pistol vs AK-47

  • @ThePintoAce Nah nah nah, more like mma is just wrestling and BJJ,There boxing sucks there muy thai sucks. How many judo guys can you name less then 10.They have world class bbj and wreslers yes but in no way is there striking "art",It all depends on the person, not every mma fighter is good at everything,Huston alexsander is a mma fighter, but it does not mean he masters boxing, wrestling, bjj

  • @Legitchewy

thats crazy. There are so many fighters that have great striking. Allistair overeem, MMA champion, and K-1 kicking boxing champion with wins over Peter Aerts, ben Edwards, ghokan saki, and even Badr Hari.

Look at shogun, he has some crzy muai thai, brutal kicks and striking. even theres ppl like machida, who are excellent strikers, but not in boxing.

and rsn why ppl dnt just yse boing in mma, is bcuz it wud b a serious weakness,, u gta b well rounded

  • @ThePintoAce Now hold on I know overeem is K1 champ,he is great so is machida and shogun, there are few guys i think are good strkers but what is the percent of good strikers 10% maybe.Random names:Josh Koshcheck terriable striking, gsp beat he bad,now imagine him in a boxing or k1 fight.Shane Carwin strong power terriable boxing display.Respect boxing, guys in mma should respect boxing even more.My biggest problem is that people forget boxing is part of mma,but it is poorley done.Respect boxing

  • @Legitchewy

lol i admit koschek and carwin arnt good strikers. GSP has pretty good striking man, he just is stronger on the ground.

Also thing about it, if mmartist did the traditional boxing stances and style, they would be EASILY taken down and finished. striking in mma is way different and u have to be more careful, especially throwing hard shots and straigts.

look wat happned to toney. easily taken down and finished

  • @ThePintoAce THE thing is that toney didn't take the fight even serious,i think if he had some serious time to train he could learn a thing or 2,But i thought randy was a mixed martial artist? He didn't wanted nothing of toney, now he wanted to stay up with vera, but toney=Get him down now!It all depends on the fighter, anyone one can beat anyone but it depends there approch. But like i was saying mma striking overall is really weak.Gsp isn't that good, good wrestler but not a elite striker.

  • @Legitchewy

dude like i said in mma, u cant do traditional boxing stances and strikes bcuz it leaves u way to vulnerbable for takedowns and such. mma striking is kind of evolved 2 b more defenseive against wrestlers and strikers

  • @ThePintoAce I know that, but that does not mean a boxer can not do well.A good amount of mma fighters are brawlers,or so called boxer or muy thai.In reality boxing is much more dangerous, boxers puches without gloves can be lethal, yeah sure let a boxer learn some bjj and wrestling and he is set to destroy everyone.mma striking is not more evolved, its mostly wild swinging and brawling.Atleast admit boxing is extreamly effective, its always used but poorly done in mma.

  • @Legitchewy anderson, thiago alves ,jose aldo, shogun all have amazing muay thai

  • @cricka09 First off i respect your opinion and im glad you have not insulted me.But back to the subject i disagree, yeah there good, but alves would get beat against a real muy thai champ,i think he can somtimes be a bit overrated.Karo was taking it to him before he got lucky. He's good but not elite, how would they honestly do against guys in thailand?Look at leban,or heck Evan dunham,so called "good" Boxing guy gets easy clipped first 20 seconds againt Melvin guillard...terriable

  • @Legitchewy no mma is not that, im sorry but you have such a lack of knowledge for mma, if your just wrestler wrestler or bjj u wont last, if your just a striker, you wont last, anderson silva has some of the most crip strikes i ever seen and that includes boxers, silva was also a boxer and muay thai fighter too, n boxing has dropped down a lot, only people u hear about are pacman and money, there no new up n comers n a lot of boxing guys are jus slugging it out, with shitty form, im a fan of it

  • @Legitchewy but boxing is not as high as it use 2 be n thats a shame, they got 2 realize pacman n money wont always be there n than wats gonna happen, they keep lettin these brawlers come in n people are pissed off about it, boxing use to be a true art and sport, now its all talking n guys dancing around for 36 min. i love boxing n dont want 2 see it drop but if they dont get there shit right its gonna get flushed out,

  • @babyface0514 Im not talking about boxing as the sport.Im talking about the martial art of boxing.I was never a fan of the sport, never really watched it.But i respect the boxing.Mma and boxing is not like apple and oranges, boxing is part of mma,but poorly done. Not only boxing but muy thai as well.Look at Chris leban guy has zero striking tec,and when he got ko by silva and brain stann, the problem is very simple.Stop leaving you chin in the air, pick your shots, have better tec...mma is sloppy

  • @negaws

    boxing = work of art

    mma = reality

  • Who cares who makes more money

  • Rich Franklin is dope.

  • orangewing..nicely said i agree with you 100 percent

  • He uses make up to cover it up so no one can tell its there.

  • The Boxing and MMA battle needs to be over. Both sports are great and they shoudn't be competing with each other. If anything, they should all team up so that it could work out for both. Some people may prefer just being a boxer and others MMA.

In the end, it's about fighting and pleasing the fans to make money. Fans can differ on what they like but most I would say want action packed fights and in both sports you have this in certain fights and certain fights aren't so good.

  • I agree, but imo boxing started it with Arum, and them going on and saying crap like MMA Fighters are nothing but "brawlers', and unskilled. Then he said something stupid about how MMA fans are "skin heads".

  • @Orangewind exactly, couldn't say it better myself

  • The main argument that comes from fighters themselves is that some boxers make 10 milion bucks a fight sometimes more, and most of mma fighters don't make not even half of it, and considering the amount of training, and the injuries they have to sustain, i agree with them, they should have at least the same salarie that boxers have...

sorry about my english, im from Brazil.

  • @masondarko

    @masondarko

I understand but there are no set "salaries" even in boxing. It varies wider than MMA. Everybody gets paid different amounts in boxing, even the "Stars." Some boxers get $500 on the lowest level and others, MILLIONS. The amount you make in boxing depends on how much money you can draw. Crowd size and PPV buys determine your salary. Unless of course you are getting ripped off from the Man at the Top.

  • But that's up to you to make sure you get paid what you are worth. Which again, is based on the amount of money you generate...your "numbers." You have "great" fights between very good fighters, like Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Israel Vasquez, who are two future Hall of Fame Fighters, that don't make nearly the amount that someone like Floyd Mayweather jr. makes.

  • I’m not even sure their 4 fights together even made the same amount that Floyd just made in his last fight fighting Shane Mosley considering I heard they each got around $850,000. Now if that is true, that’s probably around what some “stars” in the MMA make. So make more than that in MMA I hear. But no “star” in MMA makes the amount that someone like Floyd Mayweather Jr. makes.

  • It’s all about the numbers and getting what you are worth based on those numbers. Floyd didn’t always make the amount he does now. His salary raised when he was able to generate bigger numbers and he fought in and out of the ring to get those numbers up.

With MMA, to make sure any power is still in the fighter's hands, fighters have to make sure a company like UFC doesn't take full control. Fighters only have power when they have more options. Fedor for example stayed away from UFC.

  • @masondarko

Your English is good by the way.

  • @Orangewind thank u but i just cant stand dana and ufc fans as a boxing guy i cant just stand there and take all he shit from ufc fighters i would watch it if ufc fans stfu

  • @Orangewind love what u said ufc could do what they do in japan where they have mma events with kickboxing fights and k-1 with the mma fights

  • great questions

  • hair cut anyone?

  • I'm glad he's so candid about the difference between boxing and MMA without feeling the need to take a shot at one sport or the other. This guy speaks the truth.

  • In MMA its so much harder to stay relaxed when one mistake can result in a guy taking your arm.

  • And one mistake in boxing can result in being taken out. Pro fighters are very quick and see openings and mistakes very fast. But yes, I see where you are coming from. A lot more territory to worry about in MMA compared to boxing.

Staying relaxed: I would also say it's the way you train and get your mindset. The Future MMA stars that start young will most likely be even better because they will have more time to train their mind and body to perfection while in growth.

  • I asked a former Pro boxer about it and he said some guys are great in the gym but freeze up in fights because of the crowd and the lights.

You really have to work on the Mental aspect and that comes with training and confidence building. Feeling confident in your abilities as well as not worrying about the crowd or losing especially. Confident you are going to win.

  • There are some really good quotes by Cus D'Amato on all this on TysonTalk website under "quotes."

When you find the quote section and pick his name look for: "the importance of psychological elements in boxing."

There is a lot of info on what is going on in the mind of a fighter. It has to be overcome to be relaxed.

On a side note, I wonder about muscle type. Building smooth muscle also seems better for the muscles to prevent burn out.

  • You mean that it's easier to be taken out in an MMA fight then it is a boxing match.

  • i love rich but i think vitor will ko him quick

  • Is that TJ DeSantis in the background?

  • Yep, it was...

  • Is Rich still relevant? He lost a few fights the past few years

  • he lost to henderson, beat wanderlai silva

  • He's hanging in there. It's tough for him to remain relevant to any one weight class when he's going up and down and fighting at 195.

  • Boxers always have a

"Punchers chance" but 9 times out of ten they would get destroyed in mma... look at the old ufc days when boxers would come in and just get there as kicked by the ground game. For Instance Penn vs Mayeather. I think mayweather would leave the cage with one less limb.

  • Rich is too cool for school. I hope he wins.

  • change the description of your video to ACE DOES BELIEVE THAT SAYING BOXING IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT ANIMAL...

on another note: I'm hungry and i'm gonna go grab a bowl of generic cheerios..

  • Sounds like a plan.

  • BYOB=bring your own bowl
