Whale research is important. Recent population growth, abnormal weather and diastrophism may cause food shortage in the future. It is not wise to depend only on livestock industry or fish farming for meat or fish. Whale meat can be important food. Further, if there is no whaling, a number of whales will grow too large and they will eat too much fish decreasing fish resource considerably.
"Park itself in front of a large vessel?" ?? The Shonan Maru deliberately steered a course across the Ady Gil's bow. To do that it had to turn to port at least 20 degrees over the duration of the video which captured the collision. There is no question that this was a deliberate act. If you did the same thing with an automobile or better yet a semi tractor/trailer rig it would bring charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
It never stops to amaze me how the Ady Gil story has turned the blame around on the whale ship. Did the Ady Gil not basically park itself directly in front of a large vessel? Whale research is important. Recent population growth, abnormal weather and diastrophism may cause food shortage in the future. It is not wise to depend only on livestock industry or fish farming for meat or fish. Whale meat can be important food. Further, if there is no whaling, a number of whales will grow too large and they will eat too much fish decreasing fish resource considerably.

"Park itself in front of a large vessel?" ?? The Shonan Maru deliberately steered a course across the Ady Gil's bow. To do that it had to turn to port at least 20 degrees over the duration of the video which captured the collision. There is no question that this was a deliberate act. If you did the same thing with an automobile or better yet a semi tractor/trailer rig it would bring charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

It never stops to amaze me how the Ady Gil story has turned the blame around on the whale ship. Did the Ady Gil not basically park itself directly in front of a large vessel? I guess someone forgot that part. Trying stopping a ship the size of the Shonan Maru and see how far it will go before it comes to a stop! Protecting the whales is a good, noble thing but stick to the truth. If you don't you are no different then the guys on deck holding up the sign "taking stomach samples". Makes me sick!

Paul needs to build a Bismarck and go after these poachers. With all the technology we now possess, there is no reason we need to hunt these majestic animals. The Japanese came to the Dominican Republic my home land in Samana with one of there so called research vessels. They bribed the local officials to let them hunt in there words just a few whales... The local communities got together and sunk the research ship at port. The ting still there for all to see. Our local economy revolves around the yearly gathering of this magnificent creatures. Ill be dam if someone get near one of them with anything but a camera.
