  • i think the 01-04 3.8liter v6's sounded meaner, mine had the single exhaust with a flowmaster 40 series delta muffler, id make a vid but i dont have the car anymore

  • I'm planning on doing this with my v6 .. yeah obveiously id rather the GT but im young and gas and insurence is expensive enough as it is. Obveiously the GT's got more power but id still prefer having my 6 sound like this than stock. Why not right? Most people would. No one is pretending they have a v8. Everyone knows the difference but that doesn't mean we can't make what we have at least sound better and it does give a few extra horse power.

  • Few extra horsepower? Whatever HP you get from changing the exhaust will be minimal probably not even noticeable. If you want more HP you need an aftermarket CAI and tune. That will also create a different exhaust note. Other than that I agree with what you said. After having Boom Tubes on my 6 for a month I took em off and hope to get these soon.

  • That is not the case with an LS1, you get a ton more power from an exhaust and headers :)

    Okay sorry I was misunderstood I meant to say you won't get much out of a 4.0 with just the mufflers. Changing out the headers will of course get you significant gains with a tune. But then again why would you need headers if your not going F/I.

  • @EMHbelmonte you get like 5-10 hp just taking the stock muffler off...its extremely restrictive...

  • Cool car, but to me, putting that kind of an exhaust system of a v6 mustang is sort of like owning a little fluffy puppy and putting a beware of dog sign on your fence: it catches people's attention, but when they see what's on they other side, it's more cute than scary. That being said, it's still a cooler car than most on the road, but gt owner will always still laugh at you.

  • spoken like someone that doesn't know what their talking about. Ive beat big bad z28's Ive beat 5.0's.. with what ? a 4.0 v6 mustang. v6's are not what they used to be. Yes v8's have more potential, but the people that do buy them cant sup them up because, their trying to pay the ridiculous price on them. That being said, the new modular 4.0's kick ass 4sure. =)

  • I'm not talking about racing...most people could care less about how fast a car is. I'm talking about the overall sound of the car; the v6 mustang, with most exhaust systems, sound like a ricer. Unless you drive it around with open headers, it's sounds weak for a stang.

  • @odessaboy it is a diffrent sound, ill give you that. but compared to the 3.8 v6 mustang sound.. the 4.0 sounds like a GT

  • @odessaboy why would they laugh at you? a real mustang fan would "like" to see another mustang on the road, not laugh at it, right? unless your trying to say "EVERY" person who drives a gt is an arrogant asshole who laughs at v6 mustangs that sound like v8s? is it?

  • What brand is your H pipe? Would I be able to purchase a Jegs brand H-pipe cut it so that I can clamp/weld it to the factory down pipes?

  • i need help...should i get the bbk headers with high-flow catted x-pipe or bbk headers with the borla x-pipe? by the way i only have the magnaflow mufflers (bot the magnapacks) on with stock everything else. the only thing i have aftermarket is a herst shifter and CAI

  • The V6 really needs the cats. If you take them off a lot of back pressure is lost. I've also heard that it makes the car sound like shit, but I havent heard one without cats personally. Pypes headers are cheaper than BBK and are just about the same btw.

  • @95cobby without cats it sounds like rice, trust me, i was curious so i took em off and immediately put them back, LT headers are terrible for the v6 too, personally FRPP catbacks or Dynomax are best, bbk chrome headers are cheaper and look nice

  • Yes they were right around $200 I think.

  • hey i've been told that the bolt on exhausts is different from the gt, and said that u cant get the H-pipe or X without changing something so the pipes can bolt on correctly.

  • The exhaust from a GT will work just fine on the V6. The pipes from the V6 cats to the Y-Pipe are only 2.25" and the GT is 2.5". I used the GT H-Pipe on my car and had to do some cutting and welding but it fits perfect. If the V6 had 2.5" pipes after the cats it would be even easier.

  • Hey man, sounds good! Is there a bad drone on them? And do they get a bit whiney in the higher rpms?

  • The drone isnt bad to me but yes there is some. At higher rpm's it doesnt seem to get as whiney as other setups. Can't go wrong with the Stingers, well worth the money!

  • Just a couple bloody knuckles... Did it myself, took about an hour and a half.

  • thousands? just purchase a new takeoff gt rear bumper, plus, i just got purchased a gt spoiler for my car for $99.99 plus $21 for shipping which is crap, but i guess it's for the size of the item that makes it cost more

  • It was hard to notice actually because the stock manifolds are really not that bad.  Sound is deaper while driving though.

  • I have Borla Stingers as well and I know youtube doesnt do it justice. So how much of a difference did you hear with the headers? was it very noticeable? Im looking at getting some JBAs

  • It's more noticeable while driving the car rather than at idle.  It did make a difference and I'm happy with them. The Stingers are broken in now and they sound much deeper, I'll have to make another vid.

  • Besides exhaust the car is stock. Yes the H-pipe came right off a GT.

  • dude that sounds awesome!! i got mine comin friday. i got a great deal on the frpp ones but its the sime diff tip i think .good choice on the exhasut u really sold me on these.
