This is a teaser designed to get yer hackles up & encourage you to watch show when it airs (& raise ratings, big surprise, all programs/networks public & private have agendas)... thre may be problems in donation distribution but will reserve judgement until the whole thing is aired. As mentioned Haiti was in miserable shape to start with, earthquake took it down to *nothing* & it was horrific. Clean up isn't cheap & what's left won't get anybody the Taj Mahal. Still work to do.
@roflol1961 Nvrmnd, saw the series (up to epi 5 anyway)... what a mess. Had no idea Red Cross redirects 90%+ of donations back to the US via "Tied Aid" legislation (need to find out who else does)... will be particularly careful in my donating, and when opportunities to donate personal toiletries kits come along will take advantage of that as they seem most needed. gah, feeling very spoiled... :(
Why was I not surprised by this video? Just watch the video of George Bush telling people "Just send us yer cash" and you know that fat cat piece of shits were going to pocket it.
@Achtro dont you think they were sarcastic? it proablbly only takes a milion dollars to put up tents around the 200 mile island. were did all the rest go thats the question..
@squall274 well we didnt really send a check, schools around the country like in the usa put up donation things, my highschool raised around 1000 dollars, now imagine an entire county, an entire state, the entire US, i bet you could of easily gather around more than a billion dollars, next comes the other countrys like britian. and all of these were used for food, goods ect, but there had to be money left over so were the fugde did it go?
@lLxJLxJl its going into someones pockets, the contract for the multi million dollars is going person to person to person each getting paid to approve for the operations and so they run out of money by the time it gets to the intended receivers, but hey american corporate goes home happy......
@tacosandbeans hmm but it really is alot of money just for them to maybe simply buy food and put up tents, or maybe they are regrowing starting from tents, hiring people to build buildings ect... so they can have shelter/homes and school ect maybe?
@FilmAt11tv I actually would like to think that the disasters on Japan and Haiti were different for countless reasons, but the reasons that come up most prominent to my mind was that
*Japan was a 1st world country with a stable economy and much higher standards of living prior to the disaster.
*As well as that Haiti did not have to deal with large amounts radiation emitting from an affected nuclear power plant.
@FilmAt11tv Only in that Japan has an economy to support itself, Haiti has been one of the poorest countries in the world for a long time, so we need to build schools, send teachers, teach the men to fish and feed them for a lifetime rather than feeding them for a mere day with table scraps, build clean water, have agricultural schools to teach them to grow food, and teach the children how not to fall into horrific life situations but to help each other grow
@FilmAt11tv yep, haiti was already the poorest country in the western hemisphere before the earthquake, now the nation is in even worst shape. Japan's earthquake was terrible but they have way better funding to rebuild themselves.

Do you think the problems faced in Haiti are any different to those in other disaster hit zones, such as Japan?
