I think your right. I saw all the movies and this seems to be before Brian went to Miami and definitely before Tokyo drift cause Hans was alive. my brother put it all together for me like this. After dom left Brian became part of the FBI no one was around after the accident so nobody could prove that he let Dom Go. in Fast and Furious four he was seen with him and helped brake him out of jail( well technically of the bus).

continued ... The clip on Fast and furious of when he was running form the cops was when he went to Miami after he helped bring down that drug dealer his record was destroyed. If they continued from 2 fast 2 furious Dom and Mia can't be in the US and Brian and Mia wouldn't be together. This movie has to take place before 2 fast to furious.

The new fast and furious is not before Tokyo drift. Han is in the movie but when Dom goes away i'm pretty sure a lot of time passes by. He could probably have gone to Tokyo at that time, and then Mexico after the race we see him attend in the end of Tokyo Drift. But no one really knows. But still im pretty positive that its not before Tokyo drift. Just saying.
