Maybe a look at your page will confirm my assumptions...?Anyway, you may be the idiot, but not because you're asking a ?, but because you call someone names, assuming knowledge, which is wrong. • @MrBloodybullet Are you too slow to click the second video that shows up as a result? Are you so slow that you think adding a curse word in every sentence is still cool? You're about as smart as the others who search for songs they want to hear only to bitch about Vevo (apparently cause Vevo is the first search result listed and because people are obligated to click the first search result). Work on your grammar/punctuation before replying to this.

  • Comment removed

  • @lucretia101 everyone gets the point of the video ya tard, it was a little side fact. if i wanted to talk about the point of the video i would.

  • @scunion73 Respect for you my man. I was never in the army but i know alot about it , and one of the things people seem to think is that war is cool and full of glory like hollywood

  • im using this on a music history assignment for college. pretty perfect song for my topic for real.

  • ROOSTER, only song on the album "DIRT" that gives you fucking hope. The rest are about heroin, addiction, depression, loneliness, and death.

To all who serve, for fighting for freedom and peace. I thank you.

  • @sarabower1 Keep that to yourself jackass.

  • @sarabower1 Your Life Must Really Suck.

  • @sarabower1 cool storie bro

  • Ahhhh real music....

  • If Layne's Dad was alive when his son passed , He must have seen Hell all over again , RIP Layne , n wishing peace to his family - always

  • @bolmsp actually it's about Jerry's dad, and Layne's dad was alive when he passed. In fact it was Layne's dad that introduced him to hard drugs in the first place, like an evil bastard. In Hate to Feel Layne wrote: "All this time I swore I'd never be like my old man / What the hey it's time to face exactly what I am." Jerry's dad was a veteran, Layne's dad was a junkie.

  • We should

learn our kids and nu era kids

  • Love it

  • UFEdward you go, you bad boy! Cuss that bitch out! Give it to him, homes.

Cuss that bitch. Yo chillin' dog.

  • Why is Pop included in the tags? I thought alice in chains had something to do with grunge

  • @KasperiHelin cause VEVO fucking sucks

  • Joseph Conrad's "Heart Of Darkness" expressed in music, in a modern setting...

  • Beautiful song <3

  • Quite simply one of the greatest songs ever in my opinion. I am so embarrassed of my generation of music, songs like this are seldom, if not, never made anymore. Anyone agree?

  • @Liam8VIII If you like this music look up Queensryche American Soldier. That is an amazing album.

  • @Muscledeth2201 Cheers, I shall give it a go!

  • @Liam8VIII It just gets worse, like the reality of the so called Viet Nam war that this Video portrays.

  • 90's grunge will never DIIIEEEeeeEEEeeEEeeEEEEE!

  • is it just me or does he look ALOT like sammy hagar?? XD great song!!!

  • I love how the scenes complement Haley's voice. It's a good video to watch, like Full Metal Jacket, to remind us that absolutely anyone who's ever been to war loses. And that even in a winning situation, in the long term everyone becomes less of a person.

The song itself just blows me away every time.

  • I was a rooster in Iraq. I feel for all of us vets.

  • The title comes from guitarist/songwriter Jerry Cantrell's father. "Rooster" was his nickname in Vietnam, where he fought in the war. The song is about some of his feelings and experiences, told from his perspective. (for those wondering on the name choice of the track)

  • @01talima you are correct. The users comment below yours might be right in a general sense; but the "Rooster" in this song is written about Jerry Cantrell's dad. He was nicknamed the "Rooster" because of his red hair. This was in a magazine interview I read back in 1993 when Alice in Chains was interviewed.

  • @01talima ::: Thanx so much for telling us that...I always wondered....

  • @01talima Rooster was a nickname for M60 gunners in Vietnam [source: copy/paste]

  • @01talima Actually his nickname was given to him at a young age because his hair stood up like a Rooster. :D

  • @01talima In my opinion, this song is about his Father and then himself as they fought the war....Their sheer dedication for their county, albiet-raw and well-depicted through this song and video! FUCK YEAH!

  • One of the best bands of all times and biggest life altering change for me. Alice in chains literally saved my life when I was in a dark, dark place. As I grew older and have a son. Obviously I named him Layne.

  • @ElectricTN thats right cool man

  • tim kennedy has a good taste in music

  • there are two kinds of people that get into the top comments in songs like this: the teens that all want to tell people how they are happy that they are their own influence and that they like the music, and the jerks that comment back with unnecessarily angry and violent rude comebacks. everyone just chill and enjoy your homework

  • @Sekryonero i mean the song. not homework lol

  • Wow, Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley's voices sound also uncannily similar.

  • @ParanoidAndroid98 hell no

  • Basque villages were devastated by bombs,Franco's bombers pursued the ships, but they got to england safely. The orphaned basque kids were adopted by British people.God gathers the various remnants of His chosen race in His own way and in His own good time.We leave our Basque brothers in the Pyrenees til the day when"Their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the peoples;all who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed the Lord has blessed"

  • Eh.. screw the Americans.they brought us nothing besides good music lmfao.

  • I went back to read dontaskmeanything's post. I think it's a real shame that there's such a huge split between fans of different music genres. I listen to both hip-hop and rock. I also listen to many other genres and enjoy them. You should never close yourself off from other genres just because. You shouldn't generalize and make stereotypes, I used to absolutely hate hip-hop, but I never gave it a chance. I'd say more, but I haven't much room. Take a look at this: /watch?v=hC7NL1jM9Hc

  • im 16 and this is all i listen to practically, and my friends all tease me cause they listen to crappy scremo or 'metal-core' <_<

  • @Gemini53095 same here!

  • R.I.P Layne Staley and Mike Starr

  • R.I.P. Rooster, and thank you for your service.

  • If your a part of the 8% of teens that listen to this, here's a story. A kid at lunch was looking through my iPod playlists and he was like "What? Why is this song called Rooster? Hahahaha!" I just gave him a death stare and took my iPod back. I wanted to cuss him out so bad but it wouldn't make a difference; he would listen to his garbage anyway.

  • @UFedward to be honest tho not many people kno that is was the nckname of jerry cantrells father when he was serving in vietnam

  • @UFedward i am one of the few who truly appreciated and loves this music,,this shit

    helps me thru life

  • @UFedward so what? that has no relevance or point. big fucking deal not everyone in the world listens to the same music. quit bitching about it. just because you listen to music that came out before you were born doesn't make you cool. it mean your parents liked music.

  • @killjoysxe I agree.

  • @killjoysxe Your parents hahaha, Man, Im 32 listened to this in junior high, I feel fucking old now hahaha!

  • @rubbers99 Although compared to the puke they have out now, Im glad I am!

  • @UFedward i am a teenager, and i do love this song but im actually genuinely wondering why its called rooster?

  • Comment removed

  • @darkroomxvii A "Rooster" was a GI in 'nam that manned a 50cal machine gun. Called a rooster because of the rooster tail it threw in the ground from the barrage of bullets. Usually one rooster per one bunker full of grunts. Kill the rooster and its game over. Your main source of firepower stopped and it became an "even" playing field.

  • @UFedward I would pity him. You will miss a lot in life by judging books by their covers.

  • @UFedward

What makes you think that your music taste is any better than his? Todays grunge kids are such emos -_-

  • @Testudoization Indeed

    Fuck emos
