@Wurzelknecht I hope you enjoy it. I honestly do. In this video, I see these incredible wrestlers risk their bodies, their careers, even their lives, to give wrestling fans what they want to see. Then I look at people like Hogan, Mcmahon, Bischoff, Russo, Carter, people who claim to own and control all of the sport, and then make an absolute mockery of it.
Corruption has truly infected professional wrestling. The most well-known and credited pro wrestling company is not NOAH, but WWE.
@Wurzelknecht Seven months so you've probably already seen it, but yeah it definitely deserved it. The fans were more alive then they've been for years, the story leading up to the match was brilliant, and the match itself was fantastic (Maybe not on the same level as a lot of other Five Star matches, but still deserving). The fact that John Cena actually put in a lot of effort to make the match feel special (Something he almost never does) puts it over the top.
@BloodPump yeah I've seen it. And while I personally wouldn't have given it 5 stars (more like 4 and a half at most) it was a great match. The story and crowd were awesome and Punk dragged the best Match possible out of Cena. Also it's always a great match seeing John Cena getting pinned cleanly. Wether you agree with Meltzer's ratings or not at least you'll get to see interesting matches most of the time when you look at his 5-star-ratings.
I'm sorry, but nothing can compare to what wrestling was in the 1990s for AJPW! They had Akiyama, Misawa, Kobashi, Kawada, Taue, Dr. Death, Hansen and Vader (in the late 90s) all in there primes.
I will say however, there NEEDS to be more 5 star matches. Kenta/Nakajima (March 09') was 5, so was HBK/Taker (WM25) and Black/Richards. Meltzer needs to stop being so strict on his ratings.
Greatest match i've ever seen is still however Jun Akiyama vs. Kobashi July 2004.
you may be able to find this at your local video outlet. Their compilation videos recently released and the one with kenta and joe is called Best in the world. hope i could help
Those backdrops are too dangerous, that is why Japanese wrestlers go on "tours" and don't wrestle year round 4-5 days a week like American wrestlers.
Don't get me wrong, I love puro, but those guys, with their style could never...ever...survive an American schedule. They are just too dangerous to do that stuff day in, day out.
Side note: You know who is awesome now? Masato Tanaka. Unlike most wrestlers, he gets better as he gets older. His Wrestle Kingdom match with Nagata stole the show, IMO.
How can anyone not respect and love Kobashi and Misawa is beyond me. True legends. Awesome vid, even though I hate snowflakes, five star ratings, and all that stuff. Joebashi for best match ever!
Joe has been in a couple 5 star matches (2 that i know of). Joe vs Punk II, and Joe vs Styles vs Daniels. And he was amazing in both. So Joe is not a fag.
I was so blown away by the Joe vs. Kobashi match. Definitely one of the best I have ever seen. Japanese wrestling is amazing but I wish more American matches could get 5 stars.
Even though I agree with all the matches that are in there, they are more 5 star matches outside on the Four Lords of Heaven in Pre-Split All-Japan. I was really happy to see the Aja Kong match on there, but why was there only like 3 clips of it, but you show 102 head bumps? Misawa, Kawada, Kobashi and Tou all belong on this video, but they don't need to take up the whole damn thing.
between kawada, kobashi, and misawa is a combined total of over 50 5 star matches. but most of them were against each other. hopefully they all can pull off more 5 star matches before they retire.
To me it says that the Misawa/Kobashi singles feud is a little over-represented in comparison to many other great sources of five-star matches (most notably, the Misawa & Kobashi/Kawada & Taue tag matches and Flair/Steamboat aren't clipped at all). It's a technically fine video and all, but if you're going to dedicate a video to "five-star matches"...a little more variety, some Taue, some Flair, some Shawn Michaels would be nice.
True that. However it looks to me the focus of the video is Japan puro. And personally i think KObashi holds the record of 5* matches he has participated in. Otherwise i agree with ya! Maybe there will be a PT 2 with a Flair and HBK match!
i'm looking at the 8 people in the ring at ROH but can't remember this match anybody know what the match is or who in it would be a massive help ?

@69turtlelover I think I can help.
1st match, Kenta Kobashi vs Samoa Joe. Match of the Year 2005
2nd match, Ryo Saito/Genki Horiguchi/Dragon Kid (Do Fixer) vs Masato Yoshino/Naruki Doi/CIMA (Blood Generation). Match of the Year 2006
I can even help you watch the matches if you want.
