  • wow, thumbs up for the sopranos' high C at 2:30 !

  • @vsldk b*, guitar was out of tuning ^^

  • @vsldk I was just about to correct you. hahaha

  • That was seriously amazing!

  • that high high G is not a man

  • WOW! Definitely the best acapella version I've heard!

  • Love, love, love, love! I constantly find myself coming back to this video but I don't think I've ever left a comment. It's wonderful being able to hear a group of men sing this song so well. It gives it a fuller sound. I adore the original and this gives a different take to an already beautiful song. Seriously the best cover I've heard. You're all awesome!

  • EPIC

  • Somebody dropped a ball at 2:33!

  • Kid hit an effing B! I don't think the actual song goes that high...

  • @jkmullet it does.. lol

  • DUDE ON THE LEFT KILLED IT!!! EPIC SONG!!1

  • so good!

  • the goosebumps test does never lie ... grand!

  • 2:13 it cuts. Did they fail or something?

  • The chord that changes at 2:06 made my nipples erect.

  • by far my fovorite group version of this song! well done guys! Just back off on the wicked high note ;)

  • amazing... congratulations

  • orgasm at 0:26 ?

  • Damn - that high note around 2:34 - 2:36...

    o_0

I was listening just to find out how they handled that, and whoever that guy was he NAILED it.

    ^_^

  • @e2k42 I'm pretty sure it's the guy on the very left with black hair :) If you watch his facial movements and expressions when he makes that high note :)

  • @IlaNiira yes I'd say the same ;)

  • @e2k42 I think it was the skinny guy at front left.

  • EARGASM!!!

  • The chord at 1:01 gave me a musical orgasm.

  • Did I just hear that out of a bunch of guys? :O <3

  • just searched whole youtube for a coir cover of this song... This is the best one, this amazing!! good boys

  • Wow.

  • I've been listening to choral things – there must be hundreds of them on YouTube – of this for two evenings now, and this is definitely one of the best, with best matched harmonies and discipline.

  • Very enjoyable to listen to. Also...for me after participating in these and similar events over so many years stuffed inside a tuxedo, it is refreshing to see the group dressed casually...nice to breath fully without wardrobe restrictions. Thank you.

  • I just love the guy on the left. The way he moves.. :)

  • Sounds nice, but does anyone else think the conductor is quite of beat?...lol.

  • @TimothyGeorge1 Technically the group should be following the conductor not vice versa, so no.

  • god tier

  • beautiful looking conducting

  • AWESOME!

  • Actually to anyone even commenting on the rushing, if you'll notice, the video is EDITED. As in certain lulls *cut out*.

  • Awesome arrangement. Anyway I can get a copy of this? Youtube username rpetitto

  • Ok idiots...The reason why it sounds 'rushed' is because if they took too many breaks then the audience would get bored. The point is to give the audience a reason to listen to you.

  • Omg!! This is so amazing!! And all GUYS!!!!

  • I bet it was raining pussy when they finished.

  • more like a tornado of dong

  • umm.....HOLY SHIT!!!!!!

  • This sounds great.Really great.

  • where did you guys get the music?

  • @alrminil Look up "brozebros hide and seek", you'll find what you're looking for :)

  • The guy who hit the high note is the one at the front, on the far left with the glasses on. He's absolutely amazing!

  • I do all my songs a cappelle, come take a look

  • AAAAAH I LOVE THIS SONG SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow. That high note could have used work.

  • This is gorgeous, are any members of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia?

    PMA

    Nu Iota

    Fall 2010 (#3)

  • wow... i was expecting this to be another crappy attempt to match imogn heap but wow. this is amazing! im impressed

  • Glorious.

  • When I first heard imogen's song, a barbershop rendition did come mind. Well done in attempting it but it's a great shame that with all those voices you left out much of the harmonic colour of the original. It's those cluster chords that make this such a haunting song.

  • Im a dude and i can hit those high notes.. Its awesome.. They sounded great.

  • You guys sound great, but why are you conducting this in 4? Listen to it again, it's in 3!

  • @WillBlocher It seems like it starts out in 4 then switches to 3 at around 3:00

  • I want to meet the guy who sang those high notes

  • this is great

  • So Fast!!!

  • If you've ever directed, you'll know that sometimes you just can't help it. ;)

  • I feel like they don't need the dramatic directing... They can all count without that much movement.

  • @bht97 I agree. It takes away from the performance. I can't watch it....I can listen to it all day long, haha, but that guy is so distracting.

  • Love this video. The best part is the guy voice from 3:04 to 3:08 singing the opposing harmony. I love the way all tha part work together for that breif moment.

  • The girls in my choir had a hard time hitting that note. Very well done.

  • Where can I get the sheet music for this???

  • NAILED IT.

  • the best one ive seen so far!

  • Woah! High note!

  • this is amazing. woulda been more amazing if maybe there was a girl or 2 in the group

  • @ZombieHorizon heh, i was just thinking it was so amazing cause there isn't a girl or two in the group

  • This is great. one of the best i've heard.

  • very clean singing, awesome!!

  • "Where are we?" *guy in crowd "THAT'S AWESOME"

Very good video :) The deep bass and smooth falsettos are what really set this video apart. Great interpretation.

  • "Where are we?" *guy in crows "THAT'S AWESOME"

Very good video :) The deep bass and smooth falsettos are what really set this video apart. Great interpretation.

  • Yep. It's the guy with the faux-hawk.

  • Amazing.

  • fantastic! but..its not supposed to be that perfect timing wise so it sounds rather strange

  • Excellent Job Guys! Beautiful blending,

which male was that one that hit the high note?

Is he visible in the video?

  • @Ninahrvatica I think it's the tall guy standing behind the asian dude.

  • @Ninahrvatica i'm almost positive it's the guy farthest to the left with the faux-hawk. Look at him at the high note and at the end and you can tell

  • @LOVE92HATE92 It was, awesome job! :)

  • @abunkoske I have definitely listened to the original song, and there is definitely not a lot of scoops or anything of the sort. and even if that is true, you have to keep in mind that you must maintain correct and pure vowel sounds whenever singing in a choral setting. and in less knowledgeable way of disagreeing is, they did not sound like the original song because of their choice of pronunciation and scooping...

  • other than the fact that their pronunciation in horrid, (probably foreign) and lots of scoops, it's not too bad.

  • @HiThereImBarrett You should probably listen to the original song. The pronunciation isn't very sharp in her original song and there are many scoops and drop offs. These guys did an amazing job replicating the sounds heard in the song.

  • almost pitch perfect! so close. the vowels sound foreign...i understand if you guys are not american, but if you are, you're trying to hard. and i love when you guys did the slight break with the "stop-to hold". i wish the high note was sweeter instead of belted. i don't care if there was only 1 or 2 singing it. it's supposed to blend in. overall, good job guys.

  • For all of you who haven't noticed, this song is now up on iTunes and Amazon for your convenience! Just look up the UNC Achordants, all three of their albums are available!

  • This was really impressive. Great "together-ness." I wanted my choir to do this song but after watching a few of these performances I have come to realize that this song is a little over a freshman choir's head.

  • @MusicalObsession731 lol ya think? i heard a BIG choir sing this. with this kind of blend. it was gorgeous

  • If there was a girl in here, I think it would be better. Actually I don't know why

  • the description states: 'Also, conductor puts his finger to his ear to tell the group to listen for pitch and blend.'

...shouldn't all musically trained performing groups be doing this at all times? do they need a reminder? is this serving a purpose?

i'm not trying to be an asshole or rude, i'm just wondering if this really helps and in what way.

  • @alerokilla419 It always been my experience and the high school/college level with working with any musical group that you can't assume anything. Performers have a tendency to go into auto-pilot after a song has been rehearsed for a while, and if they aren't reminded "hey! You may think you have this song down, but you sound like crap if you aren't paying close attention to everyone" the performance suffers.

  • @alerokilla419 Well, some songs just go into melody mode and then into voice blending so you really need to tell the singers when they need to do so. That's what I think at least cause it's what we do in our case

  • @alerokilla419 It helps because sometimes people pronounce their vowels different. So if you're on an "Ah" there's different ways of shaping it, and everyone in the group needs to shape it the same way. Plus, some people are too loud, and stick out, but don't realize it. So yes, it does help.

  • the conductor is pissing me off, but it's really good

  • @gbhunter8 You're right. We're not allowed to do that in musical theater.

  • the conductor is very into it...O.o lol

  • @chelfrie not as into it as the guy all the way to the left lol

  • This is why acapella singers get made fun of. The guy that keeps touching his face.

  • @Schnitzer17 just cuz you can't do it

  • @Schnitzer17 The touch probably indicates something to the group.

  • This is why acapella singers get made fun of. The guy that keeps touching his face.

  • This is so incredible. Holy moly I'm so jealous.

  • Smart move, bumping up the tempo. Makes everything much cleaner. Also, EXCELLENT balance

  • Smart move, bumping up the tempo. Makes everything much cleaner

  • amazing!

  • why does that guy keep touching his face?

  • @dacasman lol just what im thinking

  • @dacasman "Also, conductor puts his finger to his ear to tell the group to listen for pitch and blend." Read the thingy under the video

  • @ 2:31 <-- click, rape, repeat

  • WOW!

  • I think they rushed alot

  • @musicalfotogeek17 yeah their conductor look like he rave dancing. give that man a valium or something.

  • @nerdyharry haha um rave dancing..youve never been to a rave you have you?

  • @RainInTheSunshine two words honey, burning, and man.

  • @nerdyharry yeah whatever you say, but he still doesnt look like hes "rave dancing"..

  • @RainInTheSunshine he looks like he's conducting too fast for this song. does it matter if i know whether i exaggerate or not? rave snob. as if only people who are good at dancing went to raves. pah!

  • @nerdyharry oh my god youre too much

  • @musicalfotogeek17 there was editing done....pay attention to detail.

  • @musicalfotogeek17 yeah cause the original goes at like 2 freaking mph

  • The ending chord is fucking amazing

  • soooo cool :D

  • Chordgasms ;)

  • 150 deaf rubberduckers!

  • I have had a musical orgasm.

  • kickass high note (:

  • Comment removed

  • wow. the guy in the front left flipped his Ball Squeezer switch for that high note, you can see him shudder.

  • that's insane. you guys are insane. i wish i had a knew a group of people who i could sing with like you guys. nice work!

  • i hate people who think they can judge music. i'm 20 years classically trained, and i would never feel i have that right. you are outrageous to think you can even judge from computer speakers. welcome to america: nation of assholes. incredible job on this you guys. very impressive group you have.

  • well done, guys! ;)

  • This is so excellent. They're pretty much in tune the entire song, and the resonance is beautiful.

  • I'm pretty sure the high-note guy is the one in the very front on very far left. Simply amazing :) I really want to know that guy ;p

  • Fucking beautiful. Especially that high note.

    Holy shitttt. <3

  • did they win??

  • vowels :[

  • wow, that high note wasn't that great. he hit it, but he was reaching and straining and kind of forced it out. not pretty

  • @8benwsha let's see you hit it better then.

  • @blacstar101 I'm not saying that i can sing that note like an angel. but neither did he. people are acting like it was perfect, and it sounded like any dude in america singing in a shower. it just was not a pretty note

  • @blacstar101 -sigh- Just because someone gives critique doesn't mean they have to be able to do it themselves. You don't have to be a singer to know when a note is just... bad. You don't have to be able to paint a Van Gogh to know that a scribble is a bad drawing.

  • @SapphireSiren you're listening through speakers so the pitch and intonation quality isn't the same. it probably sounded a lot different in person. him even hitting that note is impressive considering he's a guy. i know plenty of female singers that strain to hit that note.

  • @blacstar101 I didn't even comment on his note, so I don't know why you replied to ME.

  • I want to marry every man in this video.

Most especially Mr. Blood and Tears.

  • who did that high note?

  • @asdfe3344 i believe it's the same guy the directs them throughout the video. either him, or the guy 3rd from the right in the front line. :)

  • @singingxtree - I thought it was the guy in front on the far left (our left). He always comes in for the high parts and rests for a lot of the lower parts.

  • One of the best covers i've heard! You win :)

  • .... Um, whoever sang "BLOOD AND TEARS"... I kind of want to, like, glomp them. That is such a difficult note to hit for so many women, so the fact that a guy sang that note is like *FREAKING AWESOME* This group has such great harmony and pronunciation, it's just mind-blowing. Absolutely love it!

  • Wow!

  • This is SOOOOOO good!!! Harmony, intonation, 'feeling' - pretty much the best I've heard in a long time...!

  • I love the muscular guy on the end who has the beautiful upper register. Just goes to show that looks don't mean a thing.

  • 147 people aren't manly enough to hit that high note.

  • @ridesdragons21 Damn straight son

  • @ridesdragons21 I wish I could hit that note. I wish I could sing, finite.

  • CHILLS ON "TEARS"

  • No matter how many times I play this for myself or friends- it never gets old. This rendition by the Achordants is PHENOMENAL- truly spectacular... Every detail is SO on point- you can even hear a few overtones (an octave higher than anytime being sung) in a couple places; which is extremely difficult because it requires extremely accurate pitch control. FANTASTIC!

  • amazing guys. the cuts and consonents...perfect. and pretty sweet song choice i might add. : ) thanks 2 whoever it was that posted this.

  • number 37 is the one with the extreme high voice, he ROCKS!!!!

  • BRAVO! Just, bravo!

  • there arent nearly enough like buttons here to show how much i like this video...

  • pretty prone to odd tempo changes :|

  • WONDERFUL!

  • (Part 1) While this is very well done, there are a couple of things you could fix . The entire time, you have really bad problems with people tapering off notes. The cutoffs and sustained note changes are supposed to be very strict in this song, so try to make cutoffs more sudden and note switches more precise.

At, "Where are we," Your tenor 2's didn't hit their note properly right away. That is the most important note in the phrase.

  • OK!!! SERIOUSLY!! THIS WAS THE BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG ON YOUTUBE!!! AWESOME JOB!!

  • (Part 2)At, "The dust," It took me a while to catch this. One of your men on the soprano goes into falsetto on the word, "begun," when he hits the note without falsetto at a later period in time.

At, "Spin me round," I heard the American, "ow," where the proper vowel was, "ah."

At both phrases of, "Hide and seek," You need to get your members to sharpen their i's (ai), a's (ah), and k's. That K needs to be the defining point of the phrase.

  • @SunnyKisses83 seach onevoice hide and seek, I think its pretty good :D

  • ok the guy thats on the left that hit the high b on "blood and tears" is freakin amazing...that was just so well done that, is was hot....bravo man bravo

  • (Part 3)

At, "Oh, watcha say," you lack the unity of vowels on nearly every word to make it sound as beautiful as the original. At, "Ransom notes," I would like to hear you be a little more staccato while the ones singing, "hide and seek," need to sing very legato.

Aside from those few little mistakes, this was a beautiful performance. Also, I can hit that high note as well. :3

  • @lifeofanidiot Your observation were actually rather annoying, I presume that you come from some sort of vocal coaching background so you can pick up on these things. However, your need to point it out in public comment form was pointless considering how they probably won't even read it. I would suggest a private message. Not to mention nobody likes to see someone "correct" the things that people have worked very hard on. Comment on the video in the comments, and "correct" people via PM.

  • @StashLife Good for you.

  • @lifeofanidiot Go for me what?

  • @lifeofanidiot hahaha the end of your comment sounds kinda pretentious...

  • any chance I could get the arrangement for this??!! I would love to do this with the acapella group i'm in! wonderful job of blending by the way
