Its the single player the bots are retarded. The Online version PR .87, is a lot more realistic then the joke of a mod you mentioned. For a matter of fact many INS players prefer PR in terms of realism. I used to play INS, the devs allowed the fucking source noobs to take over, and now the mod is arcade.
This is an addon modification which requires BF2 installed, called Project Reality, theres also Project Reality Single Player(PRSP) for playing with bots.

Make the resolution 1024x768 with 60hx refresh rate or higher. This is probably the problem you have with PR.
PR will NOT launch with any lower resolutons.
