  • Very well said - thank for the video

  • there's only one person not clapping at the end :)

  • wait a minute. nice speech and all, but he didn't actually answer the guys question at the start

  • @gshproductions yes he did, he talked about how religion is destructive (eg 9/11) and how dangerous it can be.... is that not reason enough to Not stay home every night and do something about it? I believe THAT is the answer

  • @gshproductions you're a moron, of course he did, it was just too elaborate for your mouse brain. Re-watch the video, again and again until you understand it and if you do not, then you are useless and should not comment. Go read a book or something.

  • exactly. let people believe what they want, dont criticize them in the comments of a youtube video

  • @gshproductions that is usually true.. except for religion, here there are no valid opinions, simply fact versus myth. And that isn't a blind man's view, that is simply stating that science has facts on it's side, while religion is faith based, and that my friend, makes all religions equal (and therefore by definition, all false)

  • Epic.

  • Your sir, just got Royally Hitchslapped!!! BOOM!!!!!

  • its not tht theres no god its tht its got nothing to do with religion god cud b an infinite number of things

  • @elsmosam im waiting for the day when we finally encounter an sentient alien race. because there's a 99% chance they'll look different to us. all the main religions are going to be pretty much tongue-tied. "we'll if god made us in his image, who made them eh?".

  • @airsoftmanic lol tht wud finally shut religion up. I cant understand why people take religion seriously its an idea thats all im not saying that there is no god becos u cant dispove god but but religion is a man made story which has caused soo much corruption in the world. My opinion on this whole god buisness is that no one knows the truth and know one is gonna be able to find the truth so why not just forget about it the whole thing live a life of peace and friendship and see what happens?

  • He's right that differences in religious beliefs causes friction, but I didn't hear him give any good reason to believe they're fake. True most religions talk about "the end of the world" but in Christianity, there is a good reason. God wants pple to love him because He deserves it. He let's the ones on his side not have to pay for their own sin. Others that don't accept his grace have to pay. This man also left out that in Christians beliefs, God will make a new world without sin. So there rea

  • Treated the SHIT out of that smug littel face. I love how he plays his argument like a game of chess--starting small and ending BIG.

  • I don't know...he has a real good argument against militant Zionists, militant Jihadists and militant Fundamentalists... but it's a pretty weak argument against all religion. It's the fallacy of correlation vs. causation. Yeah, there are people out there who kill, en masse, based off of a religious conviction that the world will eventually end, and anybody who doesn't belong the the "right" religion should die.

But if you put him up to debate with Mother Teresa, he'd just sound like a dick.

  • @sidescroller You are missing his point. As long as religion exists there will be people who misunderstand and/or misuse it in some way to grant themselves power over others. By the way have you ever even read about what Mother Teresa actually does ? Go pick up a biography of her.

  • @sidescroller Ha!Very funny you need to go to the Christopher Hitchens missionary position on you tube so you don`t sound like a tool.

  • that told him !

  • that last response just summed up something ive been trying to put my finger on for 11 years

  • Creationists always have that sort of pleasant open to ideas sort of look in there eyes don't they.

  • 2:25 spacing out

  • I love that he won't even acknowledge christianity by name.

Monotheistic Messianic religion. Takes all the balls and magic out of it doesn't it?

  • I believe that is what is called a Hitch Slap.

  • @itwontbelongyaya

I have yet to see anybody do it as skillfully, eloquently, surgically, and completely as Hitch. He will be missed.

  • Absolutely beautiful

  • lol the guy who asked the question is not clapping at all.

  • those men sat at the front look a right bunch of bible beating dopes

  • omg. this was one of the best responses ever. ive heard them all. and this one just fucking nailed it.

  • Ah, the resounding reverberation of yet another Hitch-slap.

  • Fugly, angry, slack-jawed white dudes? Obviously the preacher's crowd.

  • 2:26, Dude is mean muggin hard. I wonder what was going through his head when Hitchens was ninja choppin his brain.

  • The guy who asked Hitchens the question got his ass handed to him and mostly likely is too close minded to know it.

  • Yeah green shirt guy, standing up at the end!

  • that smug prick who asked that question must have felt as small as a mouses' turd by the time Hitchens was done wiping the floor with him. I am sure he thought he was going to nail him somehow with a question that Hitchens' has heard a thousand times. In fact the only thing the he actually accomplished was to nicely set Hitchens up for this awesome response...smug prick fail!!

  • @robertchflynn Or it was a genuine question.

It's what it sounded like to me. at least.

Check his body language, he is interested in the answer.

  • @staomruel well if you notice he didn't even clap at the end so I don't know how serious this asshole can be if he dismisses an excellent response like this. No, this guys is just a serious weasel asking a seriously stupid question who in turn gets his ass seriously handed to him.

  • @robertchflynn After watching it again (mainly for Hitch, ofcourse) I have to agree, he got his ass handed to him.

  • @robertchflynn Or he was just trying to understand hitches justification for his his pursuit in the truth of religion.

  • Slam fricken dunk by Htichens!!! One of my favorite responses by him.

For one to believe that some god needs to be appeased by sacrifice for its own repeated mistakes, when it's described to be all loving and able, is a tribute to the power of the mind. A tribute to it's ability to fabricate nonsense, and have the individual believe it, and defend it till death, even in the face of evidence to the contrary.

  • Hitchens is so calm and collected. These fundies are getting their undies twisted! Look at how ANGRY they become! What is up with that?

  • Xitians don't believe in Allah but do they passively fight agianst the teaches of other gods? Without a doubt and that's clear with the claim that all outsiders go to a place (created by an all loving god noless) for eternal punishment. I'd say given religion's history and present state, atheists fighting against religion makes alot more sense than irrational people fighting against other irrational people.

  • that man's question is equivillant to askying why speak out if large groups of people in the world believed in unicorn and leprachans and disagreee with the fairy worshiping people and dragged generation in to war and conflict and abuse of humans and power and children- why do or say anything just becasue you see that it's based on foolish lies and ignorance. ITs evolved into the time when the religious need to prove or shut up- and there is no proof-move on

  • Gosh, Hitch, stop beating about the bush and tell us what you really think.

Wonderful; this is Hitchens in top form.

  • Hitchens is AMAZING!!!!

  • "...Though I do, some nights, stay home... I enjoy more the nights when I go out and fight against this ultimate wickedness and ultimate stupidity."

  • this is such a great video, thanks kindly for sharing, cheers

  • Right on!!! I would like to live long enough to see a clearer fade away of religion... I really would. until then I'll be fighting the good fight for rational thinking.

  • @mrx0066600 I agree with you but I fear that we may be waiting a long time

  • @kdum8 indeed, longer then our poor lives can live sadly. sigh

But who knows what the future for human life expectancy will be for the future. Way back then it was 40 now it's 70 to 98. Some get to 100 to 114 range. Damn impressive but still not good enough to witness the massive changes we really want to see, but I guess that's for the future generations to see. Given that we don't leave them a dump to clean up that will ensure the a possible future generation for a faded religious world.

  • @mrx0066600 Some people do live to 100 indeed, but the highest human life expectancy in the world is Okinawa, which is 86 for females. No one has an expectancy of over 90.

Probably within a few generations we will have the ability to suspend ageing anyway. The social issues that will then arise will be enormous. Time to find a new planet... ;)

  • @kdum8 "no one has expectancy over 90"

Germans have. 1/4 of females born in germany in 2010 will reach over 100. Life expectancy is 93 years on average. For boys its 88. This data is from a new study from a university in Cologne, released on june 21.

  • @HeavyweightThinker OK, for people born as of 2010 that may be true. People who are dying currently though have life expectancies as I stated.

  • @kdum8 agreed, although im 17. I May live till then. I hope.

  • @mrx0066600 Me too. I am also fighting the cause of rationality. There is definitely a movement... and it's not my bowels.
