I'm not surprised they changed Dru, out of any characters, she's the one who relied on the actress the most. Since a lot of the characters didn't act like themselves for a long time in S8, I doubt they wanted to try and do a good Dru without Juliet Landau. IDW even had her co-write a 2-shot story about her. Plus in the Spike series that features Willow, they talk about her mental state is getting stabler.
A good insane Dru I mean.
