Wish he would just sing it how he used to....check the acoustic mtv version..Thats when Thom was at his best. He almost seems like he cant be arsed to sing it properly. Shame.
Why do people dog on Pablo Honey? That was one of their better albums imo and I'm a huge Radiohead fan, not just a fan of their early stuff. Brilliant performance btw.
Kid A is a classic album. its just that its more spacey and ambient. people seem so set in their ways when it comes to music. radiohead made three incredible guitar rock albums in a row and they wanted to try something new and they did it rather well. some people just cant get into unconventional songwriting. whatever, its their loss.
Although I'm still hoping beyond hope that one of these days, they would realize(esp. Thom) they miss their guitar-driven records and do something like that. They can still be experimental as hell and rock wicked imo!
How I miss this Radiohead era, The Bends and Ok Computer were the best albums imo. With In Rainbows and Hail to The Thief tied in second place. Kid A was good too but not something anyone could get into. All things considered, at their core, Radiohead is a brilliant rock band that chose to walk the path less traveled and that is why they are one of the very few bands left out there that has the capacity to command such reverence from their fans and critics alike.
to say you miss the Radiohead era or that two albums are the best is foolish theyre all great in different ways, to compare OK Computer to Kid A is pointless their both amazing masterpieces. Every Radiohead album is a masterpiece in its own way they keep it fresh and keep us guessing what genius thing theyll do next there not like most bands who have one core boring sound that just gets boring thats what makes Radiohead one of the best bands out there ever.
I have an opinion as you do. Who are you to say I'm foolish for liking a particular Radiohead album over another? Grow up. I happen to like guitar-driven rock over electronica so deal with it. And it's inevitable that every other Radiohead album will be and has been compared to OK Computer, why should it stop now just because some newly minted fan decided to jump the Radiohead bandwagon? I love Radiohead but unlike most of their fans now, I tend to be more discriminating with their material.
Well I dont see why you got so angry, I was just stating a fact. Whether you like it or not OK Computer is a brilliant album buyt so is Kid A etc. there all brilliant and just cause you choose to be discriminating won't change that. Ok computer is my favorite album ever, but I can't deny that Kid A is just as brilliant in a different way, Im not arguing Im just stating fact.
Well, I fail to see how you could not expect it when the first reply you gave me smacked downright condescending. I simply stated my own opinion to start with and I wasn't even being disrespectful to Kid A. We all have our top albums and I basically named mine. So what's the problem that it's not Kid A? You have a problem with other people expressing their favorite Radiohead albums? You do realize you have to be respectful of others' opinions too and not just your so called "facts"?
No you completely misunderstand me man, OK Computer is my favorite Radiohead album, but I think that all there albums are equally brilliant (not including pablo honey), and I was just using Kid A as an example, Im just saying that Radiohead is such a genius band just for someone to focus on one aspect of them. Sorry if I came across condescending.
I love it all, from Pablo Honey to In Rainbows. There isn't an album I don't love at least 5 of the songs on, and I only say that because some of those on Amnesiac don't do much for me. I love basically all of the songs on all the others.
This is probably my least fav Radiohead song... minus pablo of course. In my opinion it is a pablo song. But it was played here at perhaps my fav radiohead concert. I love watching the videos from Eurockeennes!
Well, to each his own. I love the whole album start to finish. This song always stood out to me. Maybe it's because back when I played drums, this was the most fun for me to play.
youv actually got onto something there because this song was about how their audiences after the release of Pablo Honey just wanted to hear Creep and didnt give a stuff about the rest of their music... My Iron Lung, Creep was there iron lung during performances... its reflective of a song on Pablo so its no surprise that it wouldnt sound too much out of place on the album
I think it's a massive tune... I love when they play it live... they slowly build up to the chorus, then Johnny looks like he's going to break his guitar in two because he's strumming so hard... frantically attacking the strings and squeezing each note out.
i prefer the way thom used to sing the old songs a little better i think. the way he sings now is perfect for hte songs they've been bringing out, but some songs were a little better live back in the day. ex: my iron lung, street spirit, fake plastic trees, and maybe karma police. but either way, i'm a huge radiohead fan and love them. so i'm happy with anything they do anyways.
I was listening to an interview with Thom and he was saying that his kids will play CD's of Radiohead, and he'll an older song and he'll ask his kids what they are listening to and they'll tell him. He forgets songs because he doesn't play them all that often, so maybe he forgets how to sing them too. :P Though I like this version.
i cant help but say i miss Radiohead between 1993 and 1997..... haha xD esp on my iron lung cuz thom sings it differently T.T but i do LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE In Rainbows and other newer albums OMG!
I wouldn't call it bored.. the Thom who first wrote this song is not the same one whos singing it in this video. This is his newer, slightly different, take on the song.
by the way if you can buy all the tools jonny use and practice you can do it as well, but it will not be as impressive, because you will be imitating not creating like jonny does, but still every one can do it
the first guitar that sound is ed´s one, and that sound is made by adding tension to the cords, and usually jonny and ed ad sound effects by using special and diverse pedals that make the guitar sound in a different way, also jonny likes to use sintetizers, khaos pad, etc etc
erm if anyone is watching this who knows alot about guitar, could they have a stab at explaining what on gods geen earth jonny does or uses during those solos, it's insane lol
Wish he would just sing it how he used to....check the acoustic mtv version..Thats when Thom was at his best. He almost seems like he cant be arsed to sing it properly. Shame.
