@TheXtremeGamer90 Its old, i bought this card back in October 2009 but it was too big for my motherboard so i got a 4770 instead, with the 4770 i played Crysis on medium, so i guess this one could do it at High maybe, but i doubt it is better than 6870

@glempa5 not high, actually i have a 4890 and i am running crysis at very high on all settings with 25fps and at 1440x900 res :) and runs crysis 2 at highest graphics possible at a constant 62.5fps and runs all my other games at maximum graphics

DiAMOND 4890 XOC problem...please hELP...!!!!!!

i have a i7 920 D0 stepping cpu, corsair dominater memory... 1010 watt power supply...

out of nowhere while playing games my comp shuts down and says no dvi sigal... and there are red leds lit up on my diamond 4890...

and it only used to happen in games but now it is happening while i am just web browsing and it is getting annoying already...

and i have to wait a long time to turn on my cpu for some reason...

i have no idea what is going on...

If you have the diamond xoc version(as I have)This card isnt stable at stock oc speeds.I had to ramp down the clocks a bi(875 gpu 975 mem)or else i artifact alot.Kind of crap since you pay for oc version.All diamond did was update bios on card but didnt include cooling fix

thx for your reply, but i alread fixed it. Had to clean the drivers with driversweeper and reinstall the drivers from the website. Then i overclocked it myself :) Works great now

@dohboiii Yes, I wondered that too. From what I read the only card that would use enough bandwidth to matter is the 5970 so yes, 1.0 will work just fine.

@runedegroot Yes, a pcie 1.0 x16 slot will work just fine. You shouldn't see much if any difference in performance.

Zico, the XFX XXX edition is clocked at 900MHz core/3900MHz memory, this one is 925MHz core and 4200MHz memory, if you can pricematch both to the lowest the Diamond will be around $5 more...I am in the same dilemna, I love XFX and have always used their nvidia cards but ATI has lured me with the prices and the HD 7.1 audio support I need for blu-ray...

Quick question! When you say the Radeon HD 4890 is a duo slot card, you need two pci 2.0 x 16 slots does that mean, you need to plug it into TWO different pci slots, or does that mean the WIDTH is the equivelant of two pci x 16 slots. you only need one pci express x16 2.0 (whatever you want to call it) slot to connect the card to the motherboard but it is wide enough to take up 2 of the slots at the back where you connect your monitor :)

I have this card and it absolutely crushes any game I throw at it. The only problem is that when I oc it, all my games artifact and crash. It runs perfectly fine on stock speeds and still gets monster frame rates but has anyone else had this problem?

Same thing, just factory over-clocked. You should over-clock yours to 950 MHz core clock and 1050 MHz memory clock and it'll be faster. Just remember to raise the fan speed, too, and you'll avoid overheating. I recommend that you use RivaTuner for over-clocking this card.

@yeti6593, I wish I could tell you 100%, but since I dont have that many cards to test it out fo ryou, my experience is that yes more cards is better, but 2 cards that both have 2 GPUS (so 4 GPU's total) will probably be faster than 3 single GPU's.

Though you should be a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot specifically to take advantage of its capabilities. Otherwise if dont then get a older mainstream video card.
