  • Good disaster film but this song should be, "We Will Never Sing This Cheese Again"

  • My uncle is playing the drums in the band :}

  • ... Academy Award Winning Film. Towering Inferno. I never would have imagined it. :D

  • The blond woman in the pink gown at :24-:30 is Sheila Allen, producer Irwin Allen's wife. She played the Mayor's wife here. She also had a small role in "The Poseidon Adventure," as the ship's nurse.

  • Love it!

  • I met Maureen McGovern in 1990, when she came to Altoona to perform a concert in my junior high school's auditorium. She was the first high-profile person I had ever met, and at 14, I was really nervous. In addition to treating everyone to a great concert, she was a down to earth, pleasant, and friendly person, who right away made me feel at ease when speaking with her.

  • Maureen played the NUN in the movies AIRPLANE and AIRPLANE 2.

  • Was this an actual song, in real life or just from the movie, its so good, should of been hit.

  • Loved this movie as a kid, but did you notice at the end of this clip the Dancers on the floor are dancing way too fast for this song?

  • Can't believe i liked this song when this movie came out. I'm embarrassed.

  • Great song! And I've always found that Promenade Room to be a real glamourous set.

  • Ooops, MG is wearing some jewelry (probably courtesy of Woolworth's).

  • Maureen has two minutes and she nails it! Her conviction i the lyrics she's singing, the urgent way in which she sings them and her defiant tone at the end make this song so memorable and worthy of an Oscar. But ,poor thing!!! In her only appearance in the movie, she sports a lank hairdo, turtleneck, no jewelry and a hostess gown....that's Hollywood for you! They save the glamour treatment to the stars.

  • nice to see Maureen Mcgovern in her 1st and only movie appearance

  • @eanobility NOT TRUE..She was in AIRPLANE!!! DUMMY

  • nice to see Maureen McGovern

  • sensational movie for it's time..so many great actors..awesome grammy winning song...movie and song very underated.

  • this is a wonderful movie, i watched it

  • anyone catch the bad edit in the last 15 seconds of this clip? You can see everyone 'fast dancing' on the dance floor, clearly to a different song. ha ha

  • Wow you're so right! I must have watched these movie about 70 times now and never noticed that before. I did however notice that at the begning of the film the scenic elevator has a safety rail in it but later in the film when Lisolette falls out there is no safety rail to be seen !

  • Now this is McGovern, but in Poseidon Adventure its someone else singing McGovern's Morning After, right?

  • In "The Towering Inferno," it is indeed McGovern as herself, uncredited. In "Poseidon," Carol Lynley's voice is dubbed by studio singer Renee Armand.

  • Maureen McGovern, two oscars, two pictures

  • Maureen Mcgovern We may never love like this again

  • my love sond

  • Reminds me of my childhood I had wathced this movie in the summer of 1976 and it was an experience then

  • Well Warner Brothers, AND 20th Century Fox, BOTH had opposing books about the subject matter. SO Irwin Allen convinced both studios to split the cost down the middle, 7 million each. IT was a 14 million dollar budget, probably 1/2 with just stars salary. BUT whatever u might say about Allen, NO ONE EVER got hurt on this or the Posiedon Adventure. HE always looked out for his people. Allen was a excellent producer. Always used the same people for his productions.

  • I love the 1970's disaster movies. It's hard to believe they made these movies with the limited special effects of the time, not to mention a budget that rarely exceeded 15 million.

  • nice. anyone planning to upload the whole movie? i'd love to watch it. i have never watched this movie.

  • I have it on tape at home recorded off TV. My brother and I watched it probably 25 times when we were younger. Such a bad but lovable movie.

  • Daughter of former presid. cand. George McGovern?. Well I've also heard she's Celine Dion's mom. So who knows.

  • It's a great song, quite eerie, almost. The subject-matter of the film is very eerie, of course.

I have a cassette with an excellent orchestral version of this piece.

  • I love this cameo!!!

  • Saw the film as a kid and for some reason the song still speaks volumes for me today...Maybe it's all in the title!

  • I Saw this film when I ten years, impresive film. And almost unbeliaveable that I can found this part, which I search for.

    I always remember this song.

  • nice song cool !!!!!!

  • cool tune, nice melody too..

  • nice song

  • she had such a great voice. as good as hellen reddy and karen carpenter from the same era. is she the daughter of former presidential candidate george mcgovern?

  • @cb46nep10

She does have a great voice. However, she's not related to George McGovern; they just happen to have the same surname.
