oh gosh how many more time can totp pull it off i really would of carried on thinking this song was just a nice song if i hadn't seen this performance i guess these guys will never put the riots of 60's america as an inspiration to perform but i can tell there was genuine joy love and happiness in glady's voice to suggest that the pips set out on a journey to greatness
Dammit I could listen to Gladys all freaking day long. Even on a sad song like this, you can't help but feel the joy coming off of her in waves. She's up on stage doing what God created her to do and we're all enriched every time she she performs.
Been watching re-runs of TOTP from '76 and most of it is utter dross and shows exactly why punk happened. But this stands out as a really classy performance. I love how happy Gladys and the Pips look. Can't help but smile while watching.
This is so good. Why don't singers enjoy themselves like this anymore? I especially love the whoop at 1:48 and the way she looks straight into the camera is wonderful.
@jonzilicious I really agree! One of my favorites too and how sweet, pretty, lovely and good isn´t Gladys K. in this?!!! Say´s white guy in Sweden. Thank´s!
Pretty sure Gladys was pregnant here ....dont remember any weight problems ...I ask mercy for your royal subjects Ms Gladys .....they know not what they say !
madpriest - i agree it's a top ten moment in TOTP - but don't forget bowie's starman or bolan's get it on...or the smiths or new order refusing to mime...all good.
This is, in my opinion, the best version of Gladys Knight & the pips performing Midnight train to Georgia and I have been hoping for a long, long time that someone would put it out on you tube, so THANK YOU V. MUCH "nyrainbow4"! I really enjoy this!!
vote for her on dancing with the stars! such an amazing woman!

wasn't this a big hit before 76, though?
it's an all time classic, surely?
when gladys first sang this, she was skinny and young, wasn't she?
