To explain why you burnt yer fries: The heat gun is too direction. The ambient heat in the area may have been OK , but it only takes a split second to create what happened to you. That's why a heat lamp or a heating iron are commonly used.Don't try and wing it on such a cool old guitar man. poor boys like us can still get it right !!!
@davey4557 If you answer your door later and there's a sad guy on your porch with a guitar guts in a bushel basket, you'll know it didn't go well. Cheers Dave, you are my guru.
@davey4557 No it seems pretty tight still. I scored the joint in case theres still laquer in it. I'm gonna put a bit of pressure on it when I jig it, maybe it'll pop. Have seen guys use one steam hole and sometimes two. Saw instructions to put the hole in the centre, but thats where the truss rod is! Going to do one hole offset a bit from centre, is this what you do?
Hi I am really enjoying your vids very interesting you are a very brave man indeed to take on such a hard project .I am waiting with baited breath for the neck removal .
@telestratman65 Thanks Andrew, you gotta check out Davey4557. He's got a great Martin repair and many others on his channel. And unlike me, he knows what he's doing!
Rookie do not follow anything in this video! This is a perfect example of how not to do this!

Does the neck joint seem loose now that you released the tonge from the body?
