Madurai used to be the capital of Pandya Kingdom and the architecture resemble Pandya dynasty temples. Most of today's temple buildings were built by Nayaks, especially Thirumalai Nayakar.
we are regular pilgrimage visitors very regularly from Hyderabad for the last fifteen years we had also performed amman thirukalyanam presenting high qualities of sarees, pattu dhoties to the sacred deities. This is the only temple in India which speaks about superb quality of scriptures . Photography of this temple is highly sophisticated and an eye catcher to a pilgrim. The temple administration is maintaining highly tradition and hindu religious customs.
It was the Cholas who were cultured and contributed to lasting glory of south Indian arts. Their bronze sculptures are real master pieces. No other in India is comparable to the Nataraj
I really wish this video didn't end so quickly. He was saying some profound stuff about the architecture. My dad is a Sthapathi, he builds temples like this one. But this one is very very ancient.

Chola Architecture has become an unwritten norm in building temples.
The Tamil kings built a majority of the famous temples. (Meenakshi, Tanjore Brihadeeshwara, Srirangam, Tirupati and thousands more..)
