Yes buying damaged is good...don't think it fell into the lens...it's just so damn small it gets lost in the carpet. I found a resource on-line to buy them for cheap.
Any chance of your little bearing ball being dropped inside the lens? Why not buying the same lens sratched or faulty fir parts on ebay an compare them?
