  • lol did they just say negro?

  • lol smile for your daddy. just the black guy smiles.

  • I always feel so sad for the black guys family and him,so unjust.

  • Just like the police back then. When things go wrong blame the black guy.

  • it waas because he was black he was arested job done case closed, less paperwork

  • LoL even in a narrative that takes place in 1960's United States - we still have trouble perceiving racial discrimination, or conceding it even happened.

  • what a brother

  • What is this? A ghost story or To Kill a Mockingbird?

  • @Jackinboxes78 him being black has NOTHING to do with it...they arrested him cause he was the ONLY one there at the time...its only logical he would be the only suspect cause there were no other people or motives...the guy was drunk...

  • 2:18 Good God! '11' kids!

  • i bet one of the uncles did it

  • I have my headphones in and keep hearing a heartbeat...creepy

  • ..the police officer evens admits that; they would rather convict him without much evidence than look stupid. Notice that Frankie's father- who the films wants to portray in a good light, is forgiving and doesn't even believe it was him.

The purpose of that storyline then is to show attitudes towards black people at that time, and to get audience to empathise with them (as it ends tragically) and also to show the good in Frankie's father's character. It's not racist, that's a very narrow view.

  • Not sure why everyone is freaking out.

This part of the story is clearly a story additional to the main plot about a good honest family who are still finding it hard to integrate into 'white' society. The guy is black, he works at the school, ever see anyone talk to him? Then the 2 young kids make comments about his race (obv overheard from parents who gossip about him) He's got no friends, he stays at the school and drinks alone. Then they pull him in for the murder because it's convienient..

  • lol

  • @sapphiretwilight1 You're the one commiting the harassment and name-calling. Maturity and education are good things to have when interacting with others, especially if you are going to attempt to argue a point, however nonsensical it may be.

  • LEN CARIOU! THE ORIGINAL SWEENEY TODD!

  • I don't know, I have to agree that it was an example of 1960's racism that the janitor was charged with those murders without a shred of evidence and ignoring the fact that they had convicted someone else for the crime.

  • Williams' short while seeing his family before they dragged him out made me cry a little.

  • @sapphiretwilight1 Yeah, well I'm older than you and your spelling and grammar is bad enough that you would have flunked english when I was in school.

The fact is if the janitor had been an old white man no one would have thought anything of it; but because he was black everyone thinks it's racist. He's being treated the same as anyone suspected of a crime.

  • @sapphiretwilight1 -- 'most movies demonstrates what goes on in real life'. Really? Okay hon. Time to stop playing on Mommy's computer and go play with your dollies now. Come back when you're all grown up and can type proper English and then maybe you'll have a valid opinion.

  • @sapphiretwilight1 -- Your comment is bullshit because it is without merit or foundation in fact. Over 50% of the prison population in the States today is white. So don't make such ridiculous statements about how if you're white, you get away with crime. Everyone needs to remember that this is a MOVIE!!! NOT real life!

  • @sapphiretwilight1 -- oh such bullshit

  • if Frankie signings them i'll get 50cents a peice

    now days youll get more

  • i bet if he wasn't black they would have actually listened to what he had to say though

  • wen in doubt blame the black kid

even our skool puts dat into gd use

  • Oh racism...whatever shall we do with you...

  • ha good old time racism....

  • @HockeyCheerBecca The movie itself isn't racist, it's showing us how racist people were back in the early 60s.

  • They didn't just arrest him because he was black. He was the only suspect.

  • He was drunk!

  • This part in the movie made me SO angry.

I was like screaming at the screen as a little girl IT WASNT HIM!!!!!

  • the fact that nothing has changed is right, but those who are actually responsible for the crimes they are accused off, thier community even if a moutian of evidence prooves them guilty will scream he didn't do it.

  • oh yeah, thats right...blame the black man!!!

  • You said it....sad commentary on the world and the travesty is nothing has changed.

  • @jibbajabba22 If the black man is the only one around and the only suspect, then being black has nothing to do with it.
