Hello Tristan, The bamboo groves belongs to a family that owns the "island" where it grows. They do not presently have a "use" for the bamboo. It is more like a collection/arboretum. Bamboo Society members do have a once a year work party to restore the groves to beauty.
Hi @DaphneLewis, thank you for your reply, that is great that you are looking after this collection. I did actually come accross Bamboo Revolution who is hoping to grow the moso comercially, great news!
Hello Jungle Garden Flower, Thank you. I now have three more bamboo videos posted. Yesterday I cleaned a 28 foot by 28 square of Phyllostachys viridis Houzeau. I used my sulky dogs to pull the poles to the trash heap. Fun. And the grove looks great.
Love your video. I missed seeing Marler and his niece Laura this spring. My Moso here is now four and five inch diameter. My music compositions featuring my hand crafted Bamboo flutes are getting a lot of radio play as the New Oasis World Sampler CD is out . Keep up the great video work. @DaphneLewis Hi Daphne, We have never sold Moso shoots , little interest here. I do sell local specimen plants . I planted forty two varieties in 1990. Gardens are manicured. I produce the finest Bamboo flutes and published/copyrighted over eighty original tracks featuring my instruments. I use tropical long internode species for most of my flutes except for the Shakuhachi`s. Bambusa chungii "barbellata, Schizostachyum lima, B.M. silverstripe and textiles gracilis. Search my name to listen

I am the person who made the video. I live several hundred miles away from the Avery Island Groves.

What do you do with all this bamboo?
Is no one interested in making this a commercial crop for furniture making or something?
It is nice that you are bringing it back to life, well done!

@GregWhiteHunt01 Hi Greg I better go see Bamboo Gardens and Music. Do you sell bamboo shoots as food? Do you know of someone who does?

Very Nice Daphne,
It's rare for most of use to get to see a big grove of bamboo. I had only seen bamboo that big in Fiji. Thanks, Jack

@jgt126 Yes, the bamboo is gorgeous and there are 40 acres that have not yet been cleaned and allowed to be big and beautiful. Daphne the bambusero
