@Ddogkiller100 we towed in some surfers this day too... surfboards have way more drag and hence had to be towed in later, resulting in a much shorter ride. Where paulo is able to carve the swell as its building, the surfers would have to pump as much as possible to keep going, and often they couldnt... for this day, skimboard was the better way to ride the wave. additionally, we have skimboards with leashes on them. no need on this day though as this was essentially big shorebreak.

@981johnjohn surfboards are narrower, have skegs and much more rocker. Thickness and buoyancy only help at low speeds. skimboards have a big flat spot and plane way better. I reckon anyone who thinks a std thruster planes further than a skimboard has never ridden a skimboard....

@AMPup47 If you fall you definitely lose your board if you dont have a leash. But you can just swim in and get it. Or we have some boards with leashes. Surfboards are usually ridden with leashes.

For all of you that are saying "Just get a surfboard", there's a reason they are doing this. First of all, skimboards are a lot easier to turn than surf boards which makes them more fun because you can change your direction easily instead of just riding a wave in slowly.
