Funny how @ the end the lineman celebrate w/ Sanders. Most of the Offensive Lines that blocked for Sanders sucked. Just shows how great he was to still dominate the league at the RB position.
Barry's line wasn't always awful. The problem was that he saw 8 man fronts on almost every 1st and 2nd down. Not many OLs would look good against that. Granted, the Lions OL was probably only above average for three, maybe four, seasons during Barry's career.
Also, I read that one of his main reasons for retiring was meeting Earl Campbell and seeing what a wreck his body had become after football. Lions were going nowhere and he didn't want to be a 45 year old cripple.

I'm going on record, this dude was the Best RB I've ever watched with my own two eyes. I only saw Walter during his last year, and at that time, I was waay too young to really think anything of it.
However Barry, I watched him torch my teams, and especially my Packers. My goodness, this guy could run, he had the greatest awareness, super low stature, absolutely unbelievable balance, and the monster burst when he needed to go.

Too many stupid people "forget" Emmitt played with arguably the greatest O-line EVER.
And then there was two Hall-of-Fame players (Irvin & Aikman) who took safeties out of the box.
He played vs. 7 man fronts with a dominant O-line. There's a reason he has the all-time rushing record, he had A LOT of help.

Barry is in a class of few in the NFL... Reggie is in a class of MANY in NCAA... Not to say Reggie can never get there cause he is still young and early in his career.. But no one right now in the NFL is near Sanders or Payton's status... not even LT.
Sanders retired early and woulda SMASHED the rushing record. ANY decent NFL fan would know this.
He was the greatest RB, and was on a shitty team.

Barry was the shit... I loved how he scored and just handed it off, he set the example for me when I was playin pop warner, and into high school and now into semi-pro. ALTHOUGH, in a tight game in the 4th quarter i can get jumpy haha. no flips or showoff junk.
But Barry is theeeeee best.
