The gozheng scene is my favorite, too! I love it so much! It's basically the only serious fight scene in the whole entire film! The harpists are so cool, and the Three Heroes fought valliantly... And they're underwear is hawt lol.

@etheangel2220 no, it isn't, the gu qin only has 7 strings and is not capable of the pitch bending that you hear in this song...only the gu zheng can bend strings in that way because of how its bridges are set up...plus, you cannot strum the strings on a guqin like they strum them on this song because, again, the gu qin only has 7 strings whereas the gu zheng has 21.

also, the gu qin plays in a much lower, bass register. anyone who is actually familiar with both the gu qin and the zheng knows

its just a movie and i was sayin that it looked more like a guqin. Im sure it wasnt even real...most likely a prop. As for the instrument used for the soundtrack, i wouldnt know so ur probably more correct there

I was just discussing this fight scene with a guquin teacher in Shanghai last week. He says the instrument in the scene is "made up"....although it seems to be based on a guquin....

I don't know a ton about the Koto, but I do know that it is similar to the Guzheng in that it has adjustable bridges...where as the Guquin does not. A Guquin has only 7 strings, and looks somewhat similar to the instrument in the film. Both the Koto (13 strings) and Guzheng (16-18) strings have the bridges which are adjusted for pitch. The instrument in the movie does not have the bridges, but it has more strings then a Guquin.
