  • I found this very useful, but it was a bit fast and I was not always sure of what you were doing. Maybe a bit of extra text as in the beginning? Great though, thanks.

  • Name of theme song plz ?

  • Great tutorial! It doesn't need any dubbing, just by watching it, it's fully understandable. In fact, I think it could be shorter! :P

    Thank you very much!

  • thanks a lot very helpful =)

  • Simply beautiful. I learned something. Thank you for the fantastic tutorial!

  • stop hating on this guy he is good and I am learning people dont have anything nice to say dont say anything great work guy

  • Outline Mode won't work on a sub-layer. You need to create a new layer as is done in the video...

(Spent about 20 minutes trying to figure it out, so I thought I'd pass it on)

  • i'm using a headset and frankly the music gave me a headache (too much bass)

    thanks for the tutorial.

  • gostei bem legal

  • booooooooooo

  • is it same steps if i want to make my pic look like painting?

  • thanks for the share

  • can you tell me how that pic will stay as artwork in outline mode on artboard...thanks

  • @Ashok4174 there are 2 ways to keep the artwork in outline mode...... first, if you press cmd+Y or ctrl+Y then you make the entire stuff on the artboard in outline mode........second, if you go to the "layer-panel" and ctrl+click on the "eye" icon then you can change the appearance of that particular layer into outline mode.

  • @nirmans thanx, thats really helpful.

  • thanks )))

  • my favourite 2 songs! :)

  • thanks very much!

  • Thank you for posting!

  • Thanks!!!

  • This is the epitome of non-artistic trash and "what"ever it is that did it has about as much creativity as an e-coli. Yeah, you know, those cells that live you your ass which is probably where everything around you ends up.

  • @1WhatcanIdo9 That is so not cool to say that. Do you honestly think that anyone here would find that the least bit helpful?

  • Thank you very much! This was perfect :D

  • that was great. thank you.

  • muchas gracias me sirvio

  • are you only able to do this mesh with 6 corners? this might be a real ammateur question but im self teaching myself :)

  • nice

  • How did you get that only one layer in outline?

because I only get in 2 layers

  • Great tutorial thanks

  • @happygamestvfun1 This is a great exemple on how to lose your time man. I'ma professional designer and my soft is regullary bought. Have a great day. Try to spent your time in a more productive way.

  • @Ideasnextdoor Try to spend your time spell checking your comments lol

  • @Ideasnextdoor Haha this happygame guys a retard. Good tut

  • @happygamestvfun1

How do you know this dude is even running pirate software? You don't, so shut the fuck up.

Go back and work on your piece of shit channel, or better still, shut it down because it's an even bigger waste of space than you.

  • Hi, i am abit confuse here, how do you retain the color while showing the line work ?

  • @mikedejeuner Hi my friend. Nope, this is not a tutorial, this video was made for a friend of mine who needed to knew some steps using this tool. And again not, this tool does not makes just oranges but everythink u need. Have fun!

  • @mikedejeuner Your pencil drawing won't be scalable vector art if you wanted it high-res on the side of a billboard.

  • Great tutorial. Damn good tool

  • @mikedejeuner good luck with making money from your work

  • @rath789 I do a lot of money without working ;)

  • @mikedejeuner you clearly know crap about art if u color using 1 dollar pencils...

  • @darfunkelidas its not about the tool but how you use it now go away little troll

  • @mikedejeuner Mike u're free to use the techique you prefer. With a classic pencil u'e not able to make scalable vector images. It's completly different techique. With this techique u can obtain very realistic result and have a vector image. If this is not your goal, let's use a classic pencil and paper, it's still great but completrly different. Peace.

  • @Ideasnextdoor I think I should remove the first post I did. These silly troll clowns think they are better using expensive software. I'm not bitchin your technique I just saying that this software could be more accessible and intuitive. Microsoft paint isnt a masterpiece software but at least it doesnt take 10 hours to something that I can do in the half of the time.

  • @mikedejeuner Oh man but MS Paint is not able to make scalable vector graphics. It's a really simple and basic drawing software. It's not a professional software. Of course as I said, if your goal is not to produce vector graphics than yes, do not spend time on Illustrator. Have a great day my friend.

  • @mikedejeuner and the other silly troll clowns think they know everything about drawing technique. your comment shows you're not a pro, nor a designer.

  • thank you for this tutorial, awesome simple demonstration

  • @pharmokan Thanks my friend. I'm working in my free time on a more accurate (with voice) tutorial.

  • Thank you for showing this, I am new in Ai and You have helped much!

  • Thanks a lot for this, if found it very useful when I designed a t-shirt for a college project.

  • @tapp3r Sounds great, I'm happy it helped!

  • Figurati, è un piacere!

  • Whats the point in a tutorial without an audio track?...

  • @Flamegrilledsam Hi, the point is that this video does not starts like a tutorial but a simple support video for a friend of mine...but it's nice that other people find it useful.

    Have a nice day.

  • Sei un genio!!! Bel trucchetto!!!

    Nice Tips, Thank you!!!

  • Thanks, now I finally know hot to use it. Thanks a lot!

  • i did not understand a lot. there must be an audio track

  • how do you download a mesh?

  • What about sound

  • Wow, this is so nice. Thanks.

  • wow! why didn't i look into this earlier??

    thanks!

  • This is awesome :) gives me an idea how to actually use the mesh tool which I always just kind of wrote off cause I didn't understand it lol Thanks man!!

  • @jakkeebler Thanks to you my friend. I'm working on a more complete tutorial, so stay tuned!

  • Thanks my friend, happy u like it!

  • thanks! perfect video to get a good understanding of the Mesh tool in just a few min.

I got some experiences with Illustrator already but your video teaches me a nice and easy way to get more details into my stuff.

Pretty nice atmosphere in ur comments, too =)

    Have a nice day!

  • that is a nice thing... it helped me to make an ideea about illustrator and mesh tool... i'm at the begining with this program and i was more like a designer in photoshop and now i need illustrator

  • That's nice, back soon, I'll update this video with other one with voice

  • Can you re upload this with audio?

  • Sure, I'm working on it.

  • Happy it helps mates, I'm preparing another video with my voice explaining the process. Thay tuned.

  • @Ideasnextdoor

Do you know how can I apply a texture on an ojbect?

First of all i want to make a texutre (pattern) but when i define it, it only is available in the document i saved it, not in all of my documents.

So how can i "globaly" save the pattern ?

  • Yes my friend, you have to save it in your swatches palete, than, save your custom swatch and load it when necessary. Does it helped?

  • @Ideasnextdoor

    Yes thanks alot! :* :D

  • Perfect, if u have more questions just ask. have a nice day my friend!

  • i am shocked. Thanks for posting even though there was no sound. dude i wish it had sound to hear the instructions. I actually did learn something anyway

  • You might want to redub this, since fucking WMG removed the audio, as per usual.

  • Yep, I'm on it...

  • Great tutorial, Thanks!

it would be nice if you spoke without any music....

  • oh maybe instead of speaking he used a music track and get disabled by WMG

  • I agree man... I know this is not the place to talk about music authorization but.... I don't think that shit of WMG loses money if we use that fk song!! even I think if we use a song that's FREE advertising. kick them :)

  • wmg copyright

  • Thank you for tut, mesh makes sens now

  • you've got to be fucking kidding me, a tutorial audio being copyrighted? thats like saying ice cream is supposed to be stored in the oven at 130 degrees or else it will melt.

  • Horrible analogy.

  • pissed, because I can't hear the audio!!! infringes on youtube's copyright laws, the legal bs of this is just annoying.

  • lmao! U damn right , I'm moving to the next video cos this shit is grating my nerves. they'll let the video but cut the sound SMH!

  • Hi,

    Realy nice tutorial...

Thanks and great wishes for your efforts...

    bye

  • Hello,

    Really a nice tutorial ...

I tried desperately tutorial on the mesh but do not understand.

This of course without sound better than others.

    excuse my English.

    goodbye

  • Thanks. Nice easy technique I didn't realise you could do.

  • Illustrator classroom in a book is a fine beginner book. I don't know if there is a reference bible for illustrator though.

  • Nice tutorial...! Thanks

  • is there a book on how to use the illustrator tools and what they do ? mail please if anyone knows thank you

  • Surprisingly, no books have ever been written about Illustrator even though it has been out for over 20 years.

  • this is not true...you should visit your local barnes and noble...there are "for dummies" books on every illustrator since 9, adobe press publishes books on all their illustrator software, Ted Alspach wrote the illustrator bible, you really should check up on those things before you make an assumption like that.

  • haha dumb question dumb answer

  • hehe I'm glad you noticed it was sarcasm, unlike someone else. :)

  • heya :) if you need any music for your upcoming tutorial - I can make it and can share it. Just email me ;)

  • wtf is this copyright bullshit?! no audio?! o_O

  • @blondieb23 fool!

  • please apply for the audio to get put back up, this swas a grate tut and its usless without audio.

  • @wallmasterr

C'mon buddy you don't need words just SEE what's going on and do it yourself.

  • Wow, audio is disabled... on a tutorial. Good one youtube... >:(

  • great video - the mesh tool is very powerful to create photorealistic illustrations. you can check sharon steuer's 'illustrator wow' book for more explanations, she provides some examples on the cd-rom that comes with it

  • Peccato non avere Illustrator...io devo fare tutto a a mano

  • Same here. Very good video but could have done with some vocals to explain more.

  • Aaah man just a video that seems to explain what I need and it has no sonund :P...

"This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by WMG"

    So... what is WMG? O_o

  • Warner Music Group. I really hate 'em.

  • Hi guyz, I'm sorry the audio was desabled by YouTube couz I don't have of course the copyrights to use Jamiroquai :-D LOL LOL LOL

  • Hold down the Ctrl (or command on mac) and click on the "eye" of the level you are working on.

In this way you enter in the wireframe view of that level.

In the way to enter all project in wireframe mode press ctrl + Y (command + Y on mac).

To esc from this wiev make the same.

    Hope it helps.

    See ya,

    Martin

  • like the tut

one question on second :23 how do you make it so that when you click the little eye the square just leaves the outline???

on mine the whole square disappeart :(

  • Even though I am a hugh house music fan... this is like trying to teach someone to play the piano by telling them "sit here and watch me." Next.

  • Hi ChiOne,

This video was made for a friend of mine that had some trouble with the MeshTool and I shown him how to use it. This is not really a tutorial but a "sit and watch me" video for who use well Illustrator and can follow me.

I know it's not good fro beginners. I'm sorry if someone can't follow it. Im planing to makje a real tutorial.

  • Hi my friend, I think the music is an essential part of a creative process...LOL...anyway...if you have questions, just ask.

  • Come on guys whats with the music? I want to learn how to use the program

  • Thanks guys, it's nice you find it useful.

  • nice, even im not a fan of photorealistic reproductions of an object in Illustrator, this tutorial is well done

  • Easier watch than done for me.:(

Thanks for the video it's really encourage me to do something new and great with Illustrator. :)

  • 好

  • Great tutorial!

I have used the mesh tool before without any problems...until now that is! LOL! It just won't work!??!!??

    This is what I do:

I convert my photograph layer to "template"

Then "view outline" and then I used u adn I on the keyboard (mesh select and eyedropper) to fill in each gradient.

This used to work and I have tried various things to make it work without success.

If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, I'd be grateful if you would let me know!

  • Ooh thanks! No voice was needed. I followed exactly what you were doing. Love the visual instructions and the Jamiroquai.

  • Hi to all for your comments! I'm going to make another mesh tool tutorial, this time with voice and more detailed.

    Thanks again to all!

  • You learn something new everyday. Great tutorial and excellent music choices!

  • windows. lol!

  • awesome. you're a genius. i learned this in class, but my lecturer was going a bit too fast. you've helped me a lot. and awesome music! a little time out of your day reaches out to so many people, thank you!

  • lol. 3.30, next song.

  • I take that back, what she did.

  • i dont get one thing, is the back image an original image? how do i get the color of the original image with the eyedropper tool?

  • What he did was use the eyedropper tool to grab the color of the original picture he was using as a template. He pressed command while clicking on the visibility (eye shape) in layers to hide the fill and see the template underneath. Was this helpful?

  • yes.. thank u, in fact, i saw an other tutorial and i got it.

  • I'll be giving this a try

  • What are the name for both songs?

Those really suite for mesh tool :)

    Thx in advance

  • Good job!! I got it!!!

  • i dont know what happens...at the beginning when i hit the invisible button for the second layer eveything turns invisible. what i mean is that the triangles outline doesnt stay. what am i doing wrong??

  • Thanks for your comment mate. Feel free to ask questions.

  • Wow, this suddenly makes a whole lot more sense. Thanks!

  • nice tutorial its really helpful and LOL at swtiching music

anyways really thanks alot for tutorial :D

  • Lol, switching music..

Thanks m8 for tutorial on a good speed :)

  • Realy useful!

  • wow im a dumbass i totally forgot how to do it... it has been so long since used the mesh tool

  • okay so after you fill the rectangle with the color how do you switch between transparent and filled?

  • with ctrl+click in the eye of the cap

  • cute lil intermission AHAHA

  • Mad!!! I'm gonna watch it again.

  • thanks a lot ! I stopped working to try the mesh right now and it is perfectly working ! Many thanks for your tutorial - Yves

  • Also when you try to highlight the rectangle the pic underneath gets shifted about, do you have to lock that down?

  • How do you manipulate the rectangle at 0.33?

  • Thanks! I never knew about this mesh stuff. good choice of music =)

  • this is rly helpful, thanks! I just have one question O.o what was that you did to make it transparent in 0:22 min

  • CTRL+LEFT CLICK

AI is so simple to use, if u have some didn't know to do,u can press CTRL+? / CTRL+SHIFT+? / CTRL+ALT+? to try, so easy.

Here i can tell u that i just try my self XD

  • Thank you! I'll remember that xD

  • thats the kind of tutorial I like!!!! that speed is very good!!! any complication... stop and go back

any way... whats the name of the song?

  • jamiroquai - You Give Me Something

    :)

    great post dude tnx !

  • It's like watching a mime doing a magic trick!

You're not going to come around holding a stupid hat collecting change afterwards, are ya? I'm giving you a standing-O! Bravo!!!: (

  • what is the difference of using the mesh and adapt it to the image or just tracing over the image?

  • Hi, the difference is just in techinque. The Mesh tool helps you to create in a very very simple way complex gradients. When u just trace with pen tool it's harder to make some well faded gradients.

  • VERY GOOD!

  • Wow, this is a lot faster than tracing with a pen tool. I would love to see an audio tutural because I am new at this. I look forward to the audio tuturial

  • slower to be exact

  • well, at the time, I didnt know how to use the pen tool very effectively, but I have it now. I think this method is better, though

  • I really appreciate it buddy, thanks for your help, your doing a really awesome job.

  • Hi, I think this is really cool, but could you upload this same vid with step by step audio???. I'm a newbie, and I can't quite follow without a step by step walk through. By the way, awesome track!!. Thanks!.
