@hempoilsoldier It's all a matter of preference. I don't own a mountain bike because they are big and heavy. I commute and enjoy going long distances so a mountain bike is not going to be the best choice for those two scenarios. Ride whatever you want, no bike is better than another, just depends what you want from it.
adam1collins: I own a mountain bike but I do not go offroad often. I like the open road, and going fast and far. It is fun actually, but you know a dimwit like you is not gonna try something that fun no way.
This place looks perfect for road biking! IIRC that stretch of road is that one way road leading down from the visitor's center, right? (Plus no need to worry about oncoming traffic ;D)
I drove through that place last week and it was simply beautiful. I saw a few cyclists too on SR410, too bad I can't wind down my window fast enough to give em a friendly wave.
Road bikes are faster, easier, and more fun (for some people) than mountain biking. I'm a rather frequent downhill rider, but when I'm not doing that, I'm on the road. The speed on road bikes is addicting too. climbing on a road bike is fun too. I dunno, they're fun. If you don't find speed and fitness appealing, then stick to mtbs, i understand the appeal of mtbs a lot, cool bikes, singletracks, jumps, dirt. So whatever you fancy i guess.
race bikes are that fast!!!!!?? i mean im not that surprised, my road bike was fast but for true speed i had push myself but i heard that race bikes could cover the same distance with same speed as road bike, with less peddling. is this true? i've never ridden one but im interested in buying
The truth is - Speed comes with experience and 'miles under the belt' - I ride a Cervelo R3, (one of, if not THE lightest bikes around) but like Eddy Merckx said "Ride lots" - Peddling speed (or cadence as it's called) is a science in itself! - If you need any help in choosing a bike, or further advice - Email me!
I would hazard a guess they were doing speeds no more than - 33 MPH Tops - but the roads looked good nice and smooth ! - Was it a closed road?? No way in the UK can you take corners on the other side of the road it's 'Murphys Law' that there will be a car coming!!
A good descent makes up for a sometimes painful ascent though.YeeeeHaaa!
Sweet video! Although, the spelling on the title is indecent. ;) Way to make the effort to capture it. I'd love to be doing that right now on my recently purchased vintage steel Rossin frame 63cm baby. Woo! hand welded Italian frame. Carbon forks. Welgo chrome magnesium rims. Mavic bearings. Ultegra and 105 components. $400. He could've asked $1000 but he liked me... cheers.
lol but let me get this out to you guys. A couple days before i was about to do a tour around a lake called tour de tamarack, I was going for 50 mph and as soon as i hit it, my ball bearings popped out on my rear wheel. yes it was an old bike but boy was i scared as hell. going 50 on a bike is crazyy fast. im sure they are going around 35 to 40 there. but i cant wait to get on my new bike and test it out!!!!
I wish I could ride like you guys, I manage 18mph average max and thats on a good day with no wind :( I have a carrera vanquish road bike not very good.
18mph average, I'd like to see that on a skateboard over a distance of 10+ miles. thats on flat and drags. Down hill you're talking 30+mph, yesterday I hit about 46mph on my bike, doing that on a skateboard would be suicide lol.
just one pothole can mean the difference between life and death... maybe, i mean they have helmets but still.

Road cycling is probably the best way of long-distance commute. It's all about time and efficiency. You won't see many mtb-ers as messengers.

On a skate board trucks stop to wobble at like 15 and higher they get really wobbly, you couldn't handle much more speed.
Fidgetz11 3 years ago
they in the vid were deffo doing 30+mph.
willhub 3 years ago
how fast do you think they're going? i'm new to this road biking stuff.
