Look at the HS programs in Texas and Florida, the top Texas high schools have better funding and facilities but Florida HS teams are often ranked higher and produce more despite not having the facilities of a D2 team. I'm not a fan of Miami but Texas did a lot of talking in the papers leading up to this game and the national media ate it up. The Canes tried to behave and play it cool...they simply had enough once they saw that no matter what they were going to be painted as the bad guy. This was an enjoyable ass whipping to watch.
As a Buffs fan, I'm glad that the U did not play the Orange Bowl that year. The Buffs would have probably lost. I wish they had played the Citrus Bowl cos they would have CLOBBERED Georgia Blech and we would have won the National Title outright. This game was the end of an era. It is what caused all the new rules about on field behavior. Miami was one pissed off team. They knew they were the best team in the land and they got slapped in the face with a Cotton Bowl invite. Texas ran thier mouths in the media and Miami shut them up. From the opening kickoff when Robert Bailey knocked Chris Samuels out of the game, it was over and I think everyone watching knew it. I am neither a UM or UT fan, but all the whining by the UT fans is absurd. This game is online for everyone to see in it's entirety. UM had lots of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, they had serious attitude problem, hell, call them thugs if you want. But not a single illegal hit, not one cheap shot, not one late hit in the whole game. Terrible behavior yes, but great college football team back then.

texas was a piece of crap program in the 80s and 90s and they have had 2 signature wins since 1970....1996 big 12 title game and the 2006 national title...not much going on in texas but over hyped players. i remember ken dorsey was going to go to tennessee until he seen chris sims was going to go there so he chose miami....sims ended up at texas and was a bum and ken dorsey went 38-2...the bottom line is texas is highly overrated they are the most underachieving football team in the country.

Look at the HS programs in Texas and Florida, the top Texas high schools have better funding and facilities but Florida HS teams are often ranked higher and produce more despite not having the facilities of a D2 team. I'm not a fan of Miami but Texas did a lot of talking in the papers leading up to this game and the national media ate it up. The Canes tried to behave and play it cool...they simply had enough once they saw that no matter what they were going to be painted as the bad guy. This was an enjoyable ass whipping to watch.

I wish they had played the Citrus Bowl cos they would have CLOBBERED Georgia Blech and we would have won the National Title outright. Ive gotten shit talked all year about miami and how they did this season but that dont stop me from wearing the orange and green. 56 Freshmen and Sophmores and a freshmen class coming in. I was at this one (as a UT fan and now a UT grad). We sure got stomped! UT had future NFL players but didn't understand how intense one had to be against this caliber of competition. Miami was hungrier to win and it showed...BIG TIME.

ok since you want to throw insults around lets talk about miami and who they play or more importantly what conference they play in... acc is mediocre at best. virginia tech got every body excited this year!!!! even when they lost to north carolina and got whooped by alabama. yeah texas had a few faulters, but miami has only had one good team in a decade and that was in 2001. texas (since mack brown joined) has never had a losing season and is 128-26..
