The first bit was good! But you can't say "is mise foghlaim". That means you are learning. As in, you are learning personified. It's " Tá mé ag foghlaim" or " Táim ag foghlaim" if you want to contract the 'tá' and the 'mé' as we do in Munster Irish.
Wow Megan, you're American! I never would have guessed it. Sounds pure Connemara to my southern, Cork City ears. Well done. Your Irish sounds better than mine and I've been speaking it since I was five years old!
When I visted Ireland, I heard something like this somewhere just a bit North of County Claire. I thought it sounded almost like a Slavic language and I thought I was in another country altogether. I have Irish blood (Yay!) and just heard Gaelic 'Hello' and 'How are you' when I was growing up from a Granduncle (Cusack was his last name) in America. I'm fascinated by languages and I'd like to learn this one. Slainte'
It's great to hear you speak, even without subtitles. Here in Orlando, there's no place to learn Irish formally. Do you have any recommendations for a casual learner? I use BYKI dot COM's demo, visit ENGLISHIRISHDICTIONARY dot COM, and some other sites currently. Have you heard if GAELTALK dot NET courses are any good? I'm especially keen to learn Munster Irish but the BYKI product's speaker is from Connemara... Any help would be appreciated. Mise le meas.
Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately since I was lucky enough to take classes I don't know much about teach-yourself resources to recommend. All I can say is I liked listening to Clannad, reading Beo. ie, and watching Irish Sponge Bob episodes on Youtube.
Wow, your accent is so cool, I've learnt Munster Irish, so it all sounds a bit strange; but I am surprised that you aren't irish!!! What inspired you to learn the language? agus is maith liom do video!

Cool i look forward to seeing more, i bet you get way more subscribers than simply because your a girl but thats cool (so word of warning be prepared for so pervs) My "As Gaeilge" vid is actualy my most viewed vlog vid, its nearing 900 views which i didn't expect as most of my vlog vids stuggle to get even 100 views, i'm thinking of doing more in Irish, just not sure what to say
MokongX3M 5 years ago
Agus tá mé ag foghlaim i San Diego. (I hope I got that right =D) I'm only into week 5 of a free class.
Please post more vids. Listening to RTÉ is ok, but both of your postings were just so much better. Go raibh maith agat!
