  • try backing a triple

  • Awesome, I used to drive doubles and I never had the time or the room to learn how to do this. Anybody that can do this I watch in amazement. Just got behind the wheel again in October (after 20 years) for a month pulling single 53' belt trailer. Hoping to be pulling rocky mountain double belly dumps soon.

  • @435idiots Thanks for the comment! if it wasn't for my Grandpa teaching me how to drive 30 years ago, i probably wouldn't have been able to pull this off, i know it's not perfect but....i didn't break anything... cheers

  • Horrible .

  • Horrible you look like a fool

  • douche bag lame ass you look like a fool!

  • I could pretty much do this with my eyes closed when I was 13 ... growing up on a farm we have to learn how to do this perfectly and in a hurry, use the first axle to steer the second then straighten the first every so often to avoid a jack knife, works every time

  • @spamkingalpha got any videos?

  • ummm... I got to nine pull ups before i got tired of watching... ???? Oh and farmers do it all the time without training. Thats where I learned it from without any pull ups

  • seen plenty of driver s do it! no doubt you've had plenty of practice..its hard to do but with practice??

  • i hate to blow your bubbles buddy but, before i quit trucking to drive buses (which was my dream since a kid) i "retired" being undefeated at backing up a double and tripple (only so far) in the company. I could back into any bay I wanted in under ten mins. Everyone's quit now, so the place is literaly foreign to me. I miss driving tripples sometimes. :(

  • @tibs851 Thanks for the comment..I don't get offened by all the negative comments, i never said i was the only one doing it.i was taught the technique by my Grand father, so they were doing it in the 40z and before..this was my first backing video and longest..i would love to see more of the negitve commenters put up or shut up, i haven't seen anyone and i don't allow hardly anyones comments thru that don't even post video's. I do appreciate all the positive comment's though.

  • @Wildironhorseman but... u said no one can do this

  • Check out some videos from Australia. We run B doubles ,B triples two and three trailer road trains as well as quads.Yes we do run bonnetted trucks

  • What?!!! It's a day cab that's too easy!

Haha, just joking. That is some very difficult stuff right there. Keep it up man.

  • thank god help me how that this double semi tractor trailer!!! this better best video.

  • Great skill, but please could you tell me why some parts of America have these two short trailers instead of one long one?

  • @aterv206 Thank you for the compliment! The reason is for diversity, there are a lot of tight areas that we deliver to....bark/rock yards dairies, biomass yards... so it gives us the diversity to get into tighter areas with one trailer that you couldn't get a single long trailer into. Also some times these yards order 2 different products so we can bring them an array of products with one trip, thus for optimizing the fuel off sets and full delivery cost's.

    I hope this helps!

    Take care.

  • @Wildironhorseman

Thank you for taking the time to educate me greatly appreciated buddy.

I keep watching this video with amazment, I wish we had cool trucks like this in the UK.

  • @aterv206 well some times especially with companies like UPS and FedEx they use more than one as sometimes one trailer goes to one location the others get dropped off elsewhere. and also easier to get one short trailer in some places. also It is more economical as it can save trips. some places they pull 3 28', as well as 2 28' and a 45' and a 28' also some states allow 2 45'.

  • dang good job! I didn't know backing up doubles was possible with having the trailers fold up like an accordion

  • @raykeens , Thank you! Yes they do get crossed up fast, good thing i'm left handed.....lol

  • Something there should teach you in driving school is not to be so hard on the brakes and clutch, and by the way we have ladies in NZ that back up better than that

  • easy there iltidsn, you dumb queen lovers drive on the wrong side of the road and use nothing but cab overs. sitting on your steer axle you should be able to do this blind.

  • Thats easy. Look at the size of the yard he had to turn around in. How many shunts forward does he have to take before getting it straight. They do that in Europe in half the space, with pup trailers! Go over there and do the same in the space they use, not some big ass yard. Try the DHL yard in London Colney, just outside London UK. You do that there and then you can say "I can reverse".

  • Good job. just one pup trailer is a pain from being so short. Next step Triples.

  • @idnova427 I'm trying to get me sum...When i do i'll post a vid! Thanks for the comment!

  • well done, it does take some time to get it right, and to take it slow; over here(Australia) b-doubles are a common site so most of us know how to do it, but to see an American do it without being shown how too, well done mate.

  • @unknownsilant Thank you! My Gramps tought me the basics it's been a trial and alot of errors to get this far....lol! Take care!

  • In order to back up doubles u need major tellent.IT take alot of that.Pretty good job. Alot of truckers cant do it.Your very good wildironhorseman.

  • @mikemotorcycle20 Thank you for the kind words, i wish i was much better, if i had a map i wouldn't have had to learn how to back them up....lol

  • good job bud

I been in no room to turn arround situations before its a bitch. but for a real challenge back up that combination to hook up a third now thats hard.

P.S those little trailers are harder than our 45 ft ones.

  • Nice job. Now try it loaded.

  • @MrINeedSome Thank you! I backed mostly loaded in to stalls and unloaded our products, years ago i used to back into dairy barns to unload feed, so I've done both.

  • @Wildironhorseman JimmTwo watched and enjoyed all 5 backing videos. Now a question from my past 1980 we installed lock pins on both sides of the pup to help, i see in you video there is none that I can see. we also ran 22' tandum pup 9 foot spread; lead was 23 triaxle dump w forward lift. goood job JimmTwo

  • @JimmTwo LOL...yes Jim i too remember turntable set pins, boy those guys thought they were doing something...lol No table pins here, these are full on Doubles, with the Con gear We break these down every load unless we are at one of these yards that we have the room to maneuver in or the driver can actually pull it off!

Thank you for the Kind words and boy do i miss the good ole dayz!

  • well done.

  • @tom2093 Thank you!

  • Lot of pullups and those overalls are a little too clean Sonny...

    Tadahh!

  • 2nd trailor is small but sometimes the smaller ones are harder to handle

  • i seen a bloke back up a triple onto a dock in darwin in nt in australia that 3 45ft trailers too not short ones

  • Lassen Forest Products?

  • i backed up my truck n trailer on a tow truck when i broke down once. it makes u work ur hands when ur not use it. we always back up regular 38foot end dumps its like drivin a geo

  • Come to Australia and we'll show ya how ta back a B-Double properly!!!

  • I'd love to travel to your neck of the woods, but i'm afraid that i wouldn't want to come home! I have been wanting to go to Australia for some time now! as far as backing up, i found out that if would have bought a map a long time ago i wouldn't have had to learn how to back up....So i bought a frikkin Road Atlas...lol

    Cheers

    Heyjeh

  • Yeah it's definately a great country here! While we have some drivers that can back up really well you get some that have driven for a long time and still can't back up for shit! You didn't do too bad! I doubt my boss would let me film 1 of our trucks backing up otherwise I'd show off my skill. Not that I'm anywhere near as good as some here!

  • @heyjeh ah just for your information its harder to back up a double trailer with a dolly then a b double ;)

  • Pretty good job. Kinda tough on that equipment. Some of these Aussie guys are damn good at it. I have tried a few times and never made it more than about 40 ft with out pullup.

  • that is impressive thakns for showin

  • I used to work for a trucking company,we would all take bets on how quick/or how many tries it took us to bump the dock(straight)with doubles. Oh yea,I quickly realized OTR drivers couldn't back for shit either, several times I got the driver out of the drivers seat just so I could hurry up and back the trailer for him(and get the dock plate down) and get the freight on or off.....nice vid too!

  • LOL, now thats just funny!

    Thanks for the Comment!

  • @wetlexan Any driver who let you do that should have been fired. You try to get me out of my truck and you'll get tire ironed.

  • I'd love to try triples!, with the field that i'm in in corners or in 90 degrees! i'd love it....I know there are alot of people that can do this, i'm just making fun of the "pro's" that are proud of backing a semi....lol there are alot of circumstances that i get into that i'm not aloud to or don't have the ability to video!, I'm not the best driver ever nor do i think that i'am....Ive had the chance to compete but they won't let me, they don't allow backing doubles in the...IE rodeos..

  • are you sure NOBODY can do it?... come to Oregon and i'll show you how to back up a set of triple. i drive for USF Reddaway. ;)

  • I am impressed. now I want to try

  • impressive..... but i can do it with a 40-20 with a 379 pete 270 wheelbase
