  • I'm definitely glad I hoard my old markers. This is useful! Does it also apply to double-tipped markers?

  • This seems to work thanks.

  • Very helpful. Thanks.

  • This is probably a stupid question, but...could this method also work for dry-erase markers? I have some teachers who are fed up with throwing away markers they buy that barely last a month, it would help a lot if they could do this :)

  • Thank you for sharing this :)

  • hehe hehe screw copics.....

  • This was extremely helpful- thanks for the tip! C:

  • Does this tutorial only work with Prismacolour markers or do they work with Copics markers as well?

  • @Angi197 It most likely wouldn't, because copics themselves are refillable and so you can just buy a bottle of ink that refills them about 6-15 times [depending on marker!]

  • Wow, great tip! This would save us artists so much money!

Currently, all the markers I'm using are small tipped, and my red one is dying - could I use this trick for it, or would it be too small?

  • All my money, dammit. So much money I threw away.

  • Does this work for copics, too? :D

  • @MrDrGermany it does but be careful otherwise youll over flood the tip

  • @TheAfternoonpiano

    Thanks a lot! :)

  • O.o

I have SOOO gotta do that! I don't know HOW many markers I've gone through. If I'd known this sooner I would've done it a LOOONG time ago. Thanks SO much for this tip. It'll save me some BIG bucks. The only store that sells these babies charges almost $5.00 a marker. Wow.

  • We used to do that with crayola markers and water when I was a kid. I didn't know it was practical for professional markers, too!

  • how many times can they be refilled before the pigment is gone?

  • thank you so much! do you know if this works with copics as well? I know theres refills for copics but theyre as expensive as the markers themselves!

  • @TheAfternoonpiano one refill for a copic will actually fill up the marker five to six times, so that's actually only about a dollar for each filling :)

  • @PoPiPanda yeah I know.but its always my skin tones going and I'd rather spend like 2 dollars for a big bottle of alcohol and have it work then the refill. they dont sell the refills at my local art store so waiting for it to come in online is a pain

  • @TheAfternoonpiano oh~ okay!

  • cool one! but this video is too long for such a "quick" and simple tip >:P

  • does this work for all markers or just this kind? Also is there a limit to what that alcohol will do? I mean what if the marker is completely dried out including the nub to the point of no return? (or is there always a return no matter how old the marker is?) I have some old crayola markers lying around that I want to try this to but I am not sure. Also, can any form of alcohol work? or does this have to be this specific one? coudl you tell me the name of the alcohol again?

  • @jualkyn Regarding achohol type: I just used rubbing achohol and it worked fine.

  • That high pitched noise in the video makes this nigh unmatchable. I guess I won't know the secrets without succumbing to a headache. :C

  • @truthisfallacy dude its only like that on 360. Just change it to 240p if its really that bad

  • Awesome! Thank you.

  • That is super awesome! I love using Prisma markers, but don't have a lot of extra money to spend on them, so this is incredibly handy! I shall be making use of them more frequently now, so thanks!

  • Wow. This is so cool. I wish i didnt throw my prisma markers away now :(. How many times can you do this before the markers cant be refilled anymore?

  • Do you happen to know if Letraset Promarkers can be refilled in the same way?

Those are the markers I tend to use (they're easier / cheaper for me to get a hold of where I am), and if this works for them too you might've just saved my life :P

  • @votedmostvomitous I don't see why not! As they're alcohol-based it should work. I don't know how easy the promarker nibs would be to get out, but it's worth a try. Good luck!

  • @Eeve3 Cool, thanks! I'll try it when I get a dead one, definitely c:

  • ah~ just another way if showing how magical and useful rubbing alcohol really is! :D

  • Well, I shall be showing this to all my art school comrades sooner or later, nya? :3 Thanks for the wonderful tip! *rimshot*

  • i wonder if this works with copic. :U

  • @DumplingzOwO Copic have a set of refills that they sell. So you wouldn't need to really do this.

  • @suikoden4 - True, but this WOULD be a vastly cheaper option as anything sold by Copic is going to be quite a bit more expensive than a few cents per marker.

  • @MrSh4nks I see, well. when my refills run dry. I'll try this and see.

  • @suikoden4 Yea but those are probably freaking expensive. I know at stores here, the markers themselves are like six bucks. Which is why a lot of traditional artists are going digital.

  • @killernazi really? My local store sells them around $3-5 at most. When I buy refills it's always $10.

  • this is fantastic. thanks a lot!

  • Do you think you could use the refill for the copic colorless blender instead of isopropyl alcohol?

  • WOW, thank you! :D

  • Oh this is so useful thank you!

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! this saved me soo much moneyy

  • Ok so does this still keep them waterproof? How many times do you think this can be done? Have you ever used the copic markers?

  • i have like 1000 old prismas, time to stock up on some alcohol!

  • Wow very cool tip, thank you for sharing
