  • Great!!! Love this song!!!

  • luvin dis song man

  • listening to this song makes me wanna go back!!!!

  • go on the scouser

  • sorry - OVERproduced - the original is soooooo much better

  • she is so pretty!!!

  • GREAT BAND!!!

  • Cute Chicks, but Im prefer the original by Bobby Bloom!!

  • I remember this! Summer of 87. Good post! Thanx

  • The lead singer is a great dancer! I really like this song from the 80's

  • fantastic song.....shithole of an island......mash it up now!!

  • My first thought was what a cheapo rip-off this cover is. But it grew on me--the sound, the singing, the dancing, the singer's smile--and now I think it rivals Bloom's version.

  • Nice video. A friend of mine from Jamaica told me if you decided to tour the island on your own as a white guy, you'd probabl be stabbed to death and robbed. And this coming from a guy who had a badly scarred face from growing up there.

  • thats bullshit and iam from montego bay lol he prolly jus mest with somones goat lol

  • The two black chics are cute, so is the white girl but she just couldn't pull of the raggae moves. Looked too awkward. But still a good song.

  • 1. It's reggae, not raggae

    2. It's about the music, not whether the chics are cute

    3. you are an armhole

  • Of course its about the girls being cute. Otherwise there wouldn't be a video. For you and the other mindless, who have realized it,, music videos, MTV ect, are just commercials. They do it to sell records to make money. Video has absolutely nothing to do with music. As for your third comment, I must assume you are a person of low standing to say something that stupid to someone you've never met. I'm sure the finer things in life don't interest you.

  • 1988 Summertime, Driving down Harbor Blvd in Costa Mesa with a pint of Southern Comfort between my legs. Cool new stereo with eq. LOUD.

Thanks for posting this. Awesome memories.

  • Good Song, but listen to "Excitable"! I think it was their 1st single.

  • I kinda like this version. Bobby Blooms is still timeless.

The girl in the dreads is cute.

  • i haven't heard this song in years, thanks for bringing it back

  • Pop-reggae for white people.

  • 4 white peeple, black peeple, brown peeple, we love this shit

  • nostalgia is a curious thing. it makes you feel old and young at once.

  • true that

  • this was funny video and goes to show what the video age of much music and mtv did for music in 1980s. I miss the 80s, what a time to grow up.

  • I was born in 67" and love the 70's & 80's music, I think that the 70's & 80's had the best music!

  • hahahahha... i remember thrashing this TAPE when I was 7 years old!!! Thats only 14 years ago now, I took it off my older sister... bet she has forgotten all about them!!!

  • great song reminds me of my trip to mo bay

  • was this video filmed in the UK or in Jamacia?

  • On location in Jamaica

  • Brilliant pop song which will 4ever remind me of late summer 86. This is 1 of those rare songs that makes u wanna smile, jig and sing along.

  • am still saying she was so fit!!!

  • This is one of the coolest songs ever and Amazulu is the best at performing it! I LOVE THIS!

  • Amazulu did a great cover job of this 1971 hit. this was when they trimmed the group down to three (Leslie, Ann and Sharon) for money reasons.

  • this is the part of montego bay they show tourist, the old traditional parts. it's not bad but not awesome.

P.S. Not all of us are dreads!

  • I wish I knew...I have their single from decades ago.... I love this song...and Amazulu did a great job.

  • I have the extended version from the single. Song goes about 6 minutes long. I wish I knew why Itunes doesn't carry it.

  • Many people are not familiar with it at all. I can go to the Caribbean and the many musicians never heard of the song... amazing

  • use firefox

  • Lead singer hotter than a cactus in a clint eastwood movie,ha,great song and a sexy singer..BIGTIME

  • I remember this song from the 80's. Man I wish they would bring this back. Great song. thanks.

  • Moi j'aimes beaucoup cette chanson...Elle me donne un optimiste vivifiant et elle me rend plus heureuse avec l'entrain qu'elle donne.Super chanson d'été. Jo

  • OMG! I had totally forgotten about this tune & I had no idea it was Amazulu who sung it! Absolutely wicked!

  • actually Bobby Bloom wrote and sang it...He was murdered in 75 from a love affair dispute... Amazulu re recorded it and did a fantastic job.

  • For those who've never heard this song anywhere else, you can hear it when you visit Blizzard Beach at Disney World in Florida. Nice, sunny, upbeat tune on an upbeat soundtrack. :-)

  • wow could you have a song that inspires sunshine more than this??

  • Where was the Montego? All this larking about on a beach, and not a single frame of Austin Rover's finest. SHAMEFUL.

  • Montego is in Jamaica, love. That's where the vid was shot.

  • Named after the car, no doubt.

  • yes :) +1

  • I LOVE DIS SONG

  • Summertime is here!

  • ........

  • Great track. Thanks for posting. I remember this summer, white jeans, tie-dye shirt, long hot summer. Why don't people make these great summery songs anymore? Big up Amazulu.

  • god I miss those days

  • I'm reminded of the time Amazulu appeared on "the young ones"

    :"Amazulu!"

    :"Oh really, I'm a Glaswegian!"

These were the years in the eighties when absolutely EVERYTHING had to have some sort of tropical espect to it, fashion, music, bars and clubs!Good times!

  • This song has very positive energy to it, I love it! :D

  • I now have my ten yr old son singing along.

    WOW!He loves it! LOL XX

  • Great song brings back many childhood memories all which are good. I am proud to know the saxophonist who I have had the chance to meet up with recently after 20 yrs. Thanks xxxx

  • thanks for posting! I've been wanting to hear this song again for years and years!. Very hard to find!

  • In popular music, the most often mentioned cars are Cadillac, Chevy and Ford. This song delivers probably the only mention of a wonderful small British car: "Keys to the MG will be in his hand!" (I own 2 MG's). Seriously though, this a great 80's video for a fine 70's song. The group (Amazula) and all the 'extras' that appear in the video look like they are having a lot of fun. This is the way the world should be! Good Luck to all.

  • If you hate this one, I'll only say to each their own. Personally, I enjoyed this version of Bobby Bloom's old hit, and the video's even better---this one's got a hot blonde ;-)LOL.

  • I think they are unique in their presentations!

  • Anyone know why this song is not available for downloading from itunes?

  • I've noticed that, too. Was most disappointed!!!

  • i have it on my ipod

  • the young ones

  • cavemanesque

  • Not only is it a great tune, but the location is cool, and the leader singer looks hot!

  • Love this song,truly awsome tune A+++++++

  • I was there twice at Boscobel Beach. Jamaican people are cool and full of fun. I love it!

  • What the hell, some racist people out thier man... who care's if black people or white people sing a song, they make music for people to enjoy, if you dont like the song push the stop button. (Hello) Dont hate...

  • I don't care because I've been black all my life. I really don't care, I've listen to every color (if that's what you want to call it) music under the sun. I guess I need to know where people are coming from when they have something to say because they don't mean it the way it sounds.

    Much love to all :)

Clapton is "Lord of the Stings" :o

  • we all have our opinions but in the end whoever sings it, it is a good song and i think amazulu sang a good version of it that is my opinion

  • I feel ya! Same way as Eric Clapton singing I shot the sheriff. I love both Versions but what ever works is all good.

  • All I know is that I received some very bad news this week and needed some music that would help to cheer me up....black music does it for me every time! Beautiful music and beautiful people! Love from a white personXXXX

  • I don't where you've been hidding but Oh well. You need somemore exposure to something else ????? A bigger world outside of your own.

This is a cute song but it's not black music this is Island Music.

  • This song was originally recorded by a white person who did a fantastic job. He name is Bobby Bloom. Go to lee57 to see the original song. But this had a caribbean flavor.

    You're joking right?

  • No Myth...should have said Black influenced music! God, whatever! It's happy! I like it!! Will that do?

  • Yes that explains it better. I understand a lot better now. Enjoy the beat!

  • ^ 5 Myth! You too! :)

  • Pretty much all modern music is based off of Blues.

  • Yes You're right :)

  • What a lovely song, shame they never lasted. I really liked them for the short period they did last. Too Good To Be Forgotten is my fave though, a classic 80's feel good song.

  • remind me of a teenager, great summer song

  • brill song reminds me when i was a teenager great song brings back great memories

  • ummm I'm pretty sure mulatto is an accepted term for someone with black and white parents.

  • I never heard of mulatto? is that what it means? cross-breeding between a white species and a black species?

  • mulato/mulata in Spanish is a perfectly acceptable way of refering to someone of mixed black and white ansecestry. Of course, the Spanish word for black person is in fact "negro" meaning "black" and pronounced something like "neh-gro". And White humans and black humans belong to the same species.

  • well I live in Barcelona and speak fluent Spanish, it's perfectly ok to refer to Indians and Pakistanis as PAKIS and blacks as NEGROS but never heard of MULATA! Nice to learn a new word x

  • A word of caution...I was in Cuba. I don't know if this word is in use on the peninsula, or if it is in polite usage. Certainly you should perhaps be more careful, in general, the language you throw around here.

  • All living white people have a black or dark toned ancestor. Including you.

  • u racist. they are people just like us. same species. just different origin and skin color.

  • i feel sweet 16 again .....

  • hell! great to see & hear this again!

    feel like 16 again...

  • wow! i thought i never see this vido again! this song was pretty much unknown where i grew up, but thanks to vh-1 - that's where i first saw it. i went out then, bought the 12" single. thanks for posting this awesome song/video!!!

  • cant we all just get along

  • the white girl can't dance

  • absolutely comical, the white girl is soooo goofy.the mulatto singer is fab, the black backup is great, the white girl is embarrassing

  • They were all great, (white girl goofy? - Grow up!!!)

Happy music, Happy people. it is a shame they are not still going ...

  • How peter pan, jamaica and specifically montego bay is probably one of the most disgusting hellholes on earth. I love this song too, even more the original. But please, do not say I am immature for saying the blond is awkward, she is. happy people , please in the worst place on earth. I have been to 78 countries the places that truely suck are few but Jamaica is one of them.Violent, dangerous, filthy, worse than arab countries

  • Such an ignorant and racist comment. Keep your idiocy to yourself.

  • I do not understand your comment, in English ignorant means lacking knowledge and racist means intolerance or hatred of a race or a belief that race determines achievement.I am certainly not lacking knowledge that would preclude me from having an opinion on what a country that I have been to on various occasions is like. I am a very experienced traveller, have been to lots of countries and know that I am capable of observing and comparing what different countries are like.

  • On to racist. As noted above you used the word incorrectly so I can only guess at what you were attempting to say.Perhaps you didn't like that I criticized the dancing of the blond girl but of course blond is not a race. I merely identified her as blond to distinguish her from the other two, I could just as easily call her the girl with the white shirt or girl with the sax. Perhaps you were refering to my comments on Jamaica, which, again, is not a race but a nation made up of various races.

  • You are correct in stating that poverty exists everywhere and you may note that I did not refer to poverty in my comments. I commented on cleanliness and safety.I have been to other countries besides Jamaica where I encountered filth, squalor and felt unsafe such as Brasil, India, Syria, Puerto Rico but found Jamaica to be the worst.

  • get your racist ass out of here.

  • Ok you have your own opinion. Jamaica is just going through rough times. You act as if evetyone in Jamaica has a black heart. Stop being so racist!

  • Yea what a shame. The white girl wasted her time getting an education and going to college while the other two dropped out of school and learned to dance. What was that white girl thinking ?

  • not true and how is that funny. racist!

  • I was just replying sarcastically to the comment on the other page. You don't think anybody seriously believes that statement I made you? Every Group Practice in England is littered with educated doctors from all races but white English.

  • you see i don't really know you so i didn't know if you joking. if you were i wouldn't put it on the internet.

  • It was just a response in banter to some hilariously strange comments on this thread. There really are some corkers but I'm sure nobody is being serious???

  • Love Amazulu - wish I could find this album on CD

  • The blonde chic looks like a skanky drug addict.

  • They all look like that - it isn't just the blonde girl..

  • Well if you knew her would you say such a thing? Whats the saying "DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER?" oh well, I do know her and she is the nicest person you could know and she is no drug addict.

  • Weak. Freddie Note's version is much better.

  • Cooooooollll:):):)

  • LOL! Looks like South Vietnam!

  • or your mom's vagina

  • fuck you. racist.

You hate me cuz I'm Vietnamese.

You underestimate us just like the French, the Chinese, the U.s, the Japanese, and the Mongolians did!

    RESIST! ENDURE! INDEPENDENCE!

  • Get a grip.

  • WHY are you racist towards me?

I just simply stated the landscape in this video looks like my parents tropical country of South Vietnam.

You don't believe me? Click images of Vietnamese beaches on google search!

  • Dude, who said I was racist. Let's face it; have you ever heard of the Vietnam War; I think the majority of people would say it looks like "shit". So when you said it looks like South Vietnam, you are saying it looks like "shit." PS. Get a grip.

  • DUDE. The Vietnam war did not make the entire country turn like "shit".

Vietnam STILL has lots of beautiful tropical beaches and tropical jungles.

Why the fuck would I lie about that?

If you go to Kingston Jamaica and even Montego bay, you can see a lot of poverty, slums, begging, crime.

    So get a grip DUDE.

  • Actually, Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in the world right now.

It has been 30 or so odd years since the war, and compared to other countries that have just emerged from civil war/unrest (El Salvador, Afghanistan)

I would have to say Vietnam has done well for itself. Even compared to other commie countries (Cambodia is a shithole, beautiful land= fucked up gov)

  • btw yes I have heard of the Vietnam war, my father served in ARVN as both Infantry and MP

up until the fall of Saigon.

  • And btw I have also been to Jamaica this past summer with my gf (She's Jamaican ;)

And I can personally tell you Kingston Jamaica and Mo Bay (Montego Bay) are shit holes. The amount of poverty, shanty towns, crime, drugs, beggers is unbelievable.

I will be fair though. Some of the countryside in Jamaica seems nicer.

  • Poverty isn't exclusive to Jamaica. There are places in the US that are just as bad. Jamaica has several admirable qualities, yet people seem to be focused on the beggars and the criminals.

  • I am a very experienced traveller, have been to lots of countries and know that I am capable of observing and comparing what different countries are like. In addition to my travelling I have studied economics at the post graduate level as well as psychology and sociology at graduate levels hence I feel confident that my observations are well informed, so ignorance is not related to my comment.

  • Perhaps you were refering to my comment on arab countries, granted I haven't been to all of them but have been to seven and feel confident in giving my opinion on what I encountered there.

  • Kingston city probably is one of the most dangerous places in Jamaica though.

I hear other places such as some small towns and country sides are a bit better.

  • one of the most dangerous in the world no? along with most places in Nigeria.

  • I love this golden oldie....thank you

  • Cool,I love this song.I have to say thank god for u68 in Newwark NJ. At the time I lived on the island "LONG"
