I had the awesome privilege of being directed by Hazo this weekend. My Wind Band played this song, by far my favorite of any I played. He brought a new life to the song, absolutely awesome. As a Bass Clarinet player I enjoyed this driving part of this song immensely. Can't wait to play it again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since last year I have been in love with Samuel Hazo's work ever since we played "our yesterdays lengthen like shadows" Eventually after a while of youtube surfing his songs, I fell in love with this one. It is absolutely amazing! For a year now, I have been waiting to play it, even though the percent would be pretty much 1. At 4:56 the Bass Clarinet has a low three finger C, dropping down to the lowest E then up a minor 2nd to the lowest F. During last years Concert, I managed to play that part so powerfully, and powerful=/=loud mind you, that I, along with three people around me shook due to the low-note factor. It. Was. Awesome.
