My 1st impression was a stratospheric vortex that is mixing nimbus and ice crystal clouds forming the striated 'phoenix', along with the clear circle surrounding the center shape. Wonder if this is where Isaiah's glowing wheel in the sky originated? =^..^*=

Also known as a fallstreak hole. The water droplets that make up the cloud are way below freezing. When one does finally freeze, the ones around it freeze, and a large hole is formed. The white streaks in the middle are the ice crystals falling.

Solar flares are too big, weather patterns and heat are less organized, a meteor explosion would have been noticed... I can't think of anything in my scope of knowledge that would cause such a uniform patern, especially more than once across the globe. ??? I'm very curious. Even an "alien space ship" wouldn't be able to do this unless it shot some fantastic beam into the atmosphere.

Its not strange, its not even a cloud phenomenon.

Its just a super cooled cloud very high. The water drops in the cloud havent frozen, but are below 0 degrees C. Something (like turbulence) caused the drops in the center to freeze and fall down, and this effect spreads outwards in a perfect circle. The frozen water now falls down and you get the effect you see on the video, nothing "alien" about it.

It's probably a lenticular cloud (Altocumulus lenticularis). MYTH BUSTED! And I found out that this was a lenticular cloud... let's see... after only five minutes of research. Wow. So many people are so lazy, and jump to conclusions so quickly. It's just a lenticular cloud.

Its the beginnings of a vortex, or in other words, a cyclone/tornado. This one just happens to not have been strong enough of a current to produce a groundfall thats all. No different then whirlpools in water. It is a beautiful image though< i wonder how long it maintained the core before dissipating cuz I saw one once in Montana that lasted about 6 hours and was right around sunset so was cool to see the swirls of color.
