Im looking into buying a baton. Im a beginner and i really want one. Im not going pro or anything. I just want one that has a good length, weight and will feel right. Im aware that i need to measure my my arm length but i want a recommendation for a baton. I plan on using this tutorial as soon as i get one. Thank you in advance.
it is SOOOOO great to see correct instruction on how to twirl, there are so many videos out there (expertvillage is the absolute WORST) that teach horrible technique - thank you!!!!
@thejawa01 Thanks for watching the video. And that's a good point! You could take a few notes of the important points and then go give it a try in a place where you have lots of space. Lots of people are watching the video now on a mobile device (like an iphone, smartphone, ipad, or tablet) that let's them practice outside or in a gym. Or, with wifi and a laptop, you can also "take the video with you" to a spot with more room. Good luck! : )
I tought myself to twirl random object likes old sticks or pipes. Now I'm using an old piece of PVC pipe with a cap on the one end (sort of like a staff). One of the first things I learned to do was this trick (now I know the name!). I think I'm going to enjoy watching these videos to see what more I can learn and the proper way to do them.
After teaching myself, I joined our school's colorgaurd team and found it too easy... maybe I should look further into baton twirling for a challenge!
@babygray11 Great to hear from you, and glad to hear you enjoyed the video. And I agree...if you find color guard a bit too easy, definitely pursue baton twirling. (Or find a color guard doing more challenging & difficult material. There are AWESOME guards out there doing crazy, creative, and difficult stuff!)
@IcyChaCha You're right, we do have a lot of different batons! We recommend our most popular beginner batons, the Starlet or the Super Rocket. Both have chrome-plated shafts and are professionally balanced. You'll find other affordable choices, too, if you prefer a different styling or look of baton.
Just click on Show More in the description under the video, and follow the link for Beginner Twirling Batons.
THANK YOU for demonstrating the proper technique!!! There are videos out there that have so much wrong information its embarassing (expertvilage especially).
i am so sad my highschool marching days are over... but i got the best news last night :D my lil sister is gonna be able to twirl and i am co sponsor :)
@ShePrettyBADD It can be a bit difficult to find a store selling batons, depending where you live. You can check music stores (that sell musical instruments) and dance studios. Some baton twirling teachers/coaches also have batons for purchase.
Online you'll find a lot of baton choices. Some companies (like ours) also ship very quickly : )
Amazing tutorial! I'm brand new to twirling, but I already love it! I'm having trouble with my thumb toss but I have a feeling this video is really gonna help me. Thanks! :)
Wonderful Tutorial--very calm, relaxed. I twirled in HS and loved EVERY second of it! Matter of fact, I can't bear the thought of getting rid of my baton some 15 years later!
@uabcjgrad2006 Thanks so much...and thanks for checking out my video! That's great to hear that you have wonderful memories from twirling in high school : )
Very Good! Thank you! before I saw this video I don't understand it. Now I can do it :)
