  • what is the scene from 2:30 to the end of the video supposed to mean?

  • @sLiMLaDY4796 have you not watched episode 4-6?

luke is anakin skywalkers (darth vader) son, but luke hasnt been told yet, but through his grasping of the force, he can still sense the truth without even realizng it. thats is why many jedi are told to "search their feelings" and they will know the truth.

  • @DUDEABIDES001 i have watched all six series of star wars. its just i didnt really get what that scene meant, like why darth vader showed up, and why it showed luke's face when darth vader's head came off. so stop acting like i dont know who luke or darth vader are. i just didnt get that scene.

  • @sLiMLaDY4796 it represents a few things, but mainly the fact that luke in a way is darth vader, becasue darth vader gave birth to luke.

sorry if I came off as arrogant, its just that its seems like it would be easy to understand if you knew about this prehand

  • Luke and his face in the Darth Vader helmet singing My Little Buttercup. LOL Family came to mind.

  • I used to think he said a jedi uses the force for 'knowledge and events', like an upcoming bake sale or something.

  • My favorite part is at 1:39

  • I wanna be trained by Master Yoda D:

  • Blown your mind would be!!!!

  • 3:51

  • amazing how dagobah has many Earthly monsters, eg snakes, bugs, insects, reptiles.

  • look man...we as men are continuosly bombarded with false directions....we must be as strong as Gods and take the righteous path....

  • @johnsmdm

    I couldn't agree more!

  • One of the most powerfull scenes of the saga, the most educational and spiritual one from my experience.

  • I noticed when Yoda said forever with will dominate your destiny. So does that mean when Anakin turned to the dark side its like it sorta changed his destiny as the chosen one for a while?

  • @Automatic25 I think Anakin was always the chosen one and it never changed. He brought balance to the force by killing Palpatine. I think he pretty much beat the odds for everything when it came to the force. It didn't dominate his destiny his whole life even though Yoda and Obi thought it did. They didn't believe he could be good again except Luke.

  • no no there is no why hahaha Love that line

  • a jedi can do front flips and handstands, even with only one hand!

    That's why i'm a jedi =)

  • i wish dagobah was a real place

looks really peaceful. no electricity no gas prices, no terrorist, no economy.

    just a nice peaceful place.

  • It has tons of monsters though

  • @Panzerschrek1945 And a dark aura which hides Yoda himself...

  • it is

  • lots of mud tho

  • I'm sure you could still find places like that around the world. Fjordlands of New Zealand for eg, though you'd just need to settle for a simpler lifestyle.

  • @sodalover477 the perfect place for a jedi master!

  • @sodalover477 you mean what earth used to be like?

  • @sodalover477 minus the Domain of Evil

  • @sodalover477 it has only what you bring with you

  • @sodalover477

I think theres something to be said about that. That even in a place that looks horrid you could find something wonderful or terrifying.

  • It's "quicker, easier, more seductive"

  • Luke: Is the dark side stronger?

Yoda: No...No.. no.. but busier, more seductive.

    lol!

  • I think the cave represents Luke fear and unconsciousness...

    What's in there?

Only what you take with you.

Luke sees the vision of himself behind the mask. His father is bloodrelated.

  • Who was that guy posing as vader?

  • @DLcreator Luke himself. Yoda shoved Luke that he is his own enemy.

  • Luke duels with Darth Vader in Dagobah from Star Wars Episode 5: The empire strikes back in this scene.

  • This is pure buddhist wisedom...Zen.

  • Yes I know, I really do. Been studying Buddhism and the Diamond Sutra for many years. Peace & Light

  • My buddha motivation this scene is, truly a masterpiece.

  • Deeper much than this, Buddhism is. Not fooled by superficial protrayal of eastern philosophy in movie, you be.

  • gyromancy2, I agree whole heartedly! This is scene is very profound and deep (before midichlorians)way to talk about the force and the fears that some jedi face especially the Skywalker clan. I too have read The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell, and in particular this cave scene is the "In the belly of the whale," which plays itself out when Luke and Vader are fighting almost literally in the belly of Cloud City. Campbell was amazing and Lucas still is!

  • one can not change the world he can only become the world.

  • anyone who reads Joseph Campbell's books knows what this cave scene is all about. George Lucas borrows pretty much every them you see in in Empire, especially the deep ones like this which is obvioulsy campbellian

  • i never quite understood the cave part. was it supposed to be a sign of things to come (i.e vader being luke's father?)

  • It means that Luke could become Vader if he fails to control his desires and passions as his father did. It means Luke has to learn to be detached and intelligent, not passionate and possessive. Insecurity is the common weakness of the Skywalker fanily.

  • It was a vision...

  • It was a test. He gave into his fear and aggression, so he became like Vader, hence his face behind the mask, and his "failure at the cave".

  • so what was he supposed to do in the cave.......go on the defence - lay down his weapons and let Vader strike him down????

  • The first part. Defend himself. That he couldn't just defend himself and let it go at that meant that he was afraid.

Hate is like a cloud. When you hate, no matter what you're hating, the only thing you achieve is making that cloud larger. I know that sounds new agey, and I don't think there's an actual cloud anywhere, but I've learned that it really works that way.

GL knows good story elements; but he really shouldn't direct movies.

  • Hate and evil are like a cloud because they blind people. That's why criminals plan to do bad things to others even when they should see that their crimes are going to get them caught and sent to jail for a very long time. No level headed person would go there.

  • If he did have so much fear in the first place, Vader would've never manifested.

What's in there? "Only what you take with you." It's Jung's Self and Shadow.

  • @colmv123 "Only what you take with you", means that if Luke hadn't take weapons with him, there will be none to be affraid off. If you take your weapons, you are affraid, but if you believe in yourself, you are not affraid. And that is not Vader. When the helmet opens, Luke doesn't see Anakin in it, he sees himself, his own face. That means that Luke is his own enemy.

  • Addendum: You know what's weird? One gets the sense that Lucas actually resents Empire because it's not fatuous - almost as if he's one of these who thinks comedians are "mean", who finds wit threatening. He seems like the younger obnoxious sister who says to the wise cracking older brother, "everything's not a joke, ya know!"

  • this sequence is probably the best this series hd to offer. Its profound and simple like the concept of the good side of the force. The prequels lack the good story telling depicted here

  • Jedi training camp. Calmness, clear thoughts, not want for egocentric desires and not giving into anger or fear. Yoda teaches the wonder of life and beauty of nature. When Luke chops the head off Vader and sees himself, this symbolizes you are me, I am you and all is one. The family bond?

  • this is the part where Luke fights the fake vader

  • These are probaly the best parts of the whole saga. The hole filosofy comes forward in a great way...

  • show the part where luke first meets yoda. that's the best part :) this is good too

  • Possibly?

    No, it most certainly is.

  • The greatest movie ever made?

    possibly?

  • It has the best visuals, the best cinematography. Yoda is the most believable, physically and as a personality, than in the prequels.

  • another fuckin awesome scene from this movie.
