RECOMMENDED BY MY FATHER FOR YEARS CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG. PAST LOVES COME TO MIND OVER AND OVER. MEANT FOR LOVE NOT YET LOST IN THIS LIFETIME AND TRUE LOVERS.
RC, you're right. I got turned around by a comment someone else made about "Somewhere in Time." Strange, considering that I saw both movies, and had been searching for what I thought would be entitled, "The Theme From Nicholas and Alexandra," for years before I found it at Rock 'n' Roll Heaven in Orlando, Fla., and then, here.
Wonderful. I can imagine this being at the start of the Italian Job in 1969. Like Matt Monro, he has a suitably epic voice, accompanied by sweeping and panoramic music.
And, holy hell. I just dubbed this over the start of the Italian Job. And it works. Beautifully. And the lyrics are apt. All the way up to the tragic end of the Lamborghini Miura.
Poor Lamborghini.....and, oh, yes, the handsome driver too...
Thank you, You Tube. 35 anni fa, avevo un tape di Engelbert con una canzone di cui non ricordavo il titolo ma solo una frase "in the shadows of the past". L'ho cercata dappertutto sul Web senza trovarla. Qualche giorno fa, ho conosciuto You Tube e ho messo le parole chiave "Engelbert in the shadows of the past". Fatto!! Grazie You Tube e grazie my egyptian friend samaki101. Saluti dall'Italia.
This song is hardly palyed at all...even on those stations that tend to play these type melodies. Great version ..recall it well back in the mid '70s.
From the movie, Nickolas and Alexandra. One of the most beautiful songs ever written. What a voice.
