...thought that Birth by Sleep was a sequel but not a prequel. Also the Keyblade war was an event that took place many many many years before Birth by Sleep and though it can happen again it is unlikely to because it brings the Apocalypse. And just to get it clear Dream Drop Distance takes place after Coded and 358/2 days takes place between 1 and 2 witch is something I find incredible that you didn't get since it is mostly about Organization XIII and all of its members die...

@watchme92 This game is actually the most important game in the franchise as of now and if you're going to play Kh3 you'll HAVE to know the story of this game. Creator Tetsuya Nomura has also stated that this game can be called Kh0 and that it's a main game. I'll even go as far as to say that this game is better than both KH1 and Kh2.

@watchme92 This isin't a side story, or a spin-off. Kingdom Hearts:Birth By Sleep explains many things that lead to the original. Including things such as who Xehanort actually was(is) and how Sora was chosen to become the keyblade master. This is basically "KH0", as tetsuya nomura said.
