The light pollution issue has been a bit big locally for a few years where we have an observatory which is starting to feel the effects of the local light drowning out the stars. We're still lucky though that in being a tiny little town and somewheat remote we can still see the stars in town. I live almost ten miles from town, so we've got the entire Milky Way to see, it's a sight to behold, but one I've grown up with, but a visit to LA showed me what light can do.

Recent news, OK probably not applicable in OZ, Tadpoles are endangered by winter road salting, that accumulates in the ditches. If you want to see 'Tadpoles swimming in formation'? Put them in a cut glass/plastic rose bowl & turn in the sunlight. Kids are well impressed!

I guess as the seasons are reversed in Australia, frogs might be spawning about now. So keep a look out in junk shops for old cut glass bowls. It might make a great YouTube video. I've not checked if small fry fish are also 'mesmerised' by the scattered rainbow colours as well?

Fosters is awful - nobody in Australia drinks it. As for the accent, two people have claimed the accent proves I'm an American trying to sound Aussie rather than the other way around, which is kinda funny. A compliment I guess.

Actually, we Americans don't have accents. But we think those Aussie and Brit accents sound cool. Well, some of us have a Southern drawl, or a Western twang, and there are regional accents, sooo, maybe we're a bit more 'accenty' than most of us think. I've gotta visit Oz someday.
