  • Years after Harpo's death, harps continue to cry in sadness because there will never be an equal to him.

  • You know they touched so many lives doing this. They don't make quality like this anymore. These guys were comedic geniuses! And there actually was a clip where Harpo beats a piano to death, literally! He then proceeds to pull the guts out of the piano and play them like a harp! Totally look it up, funniest stunt ever,

  • I wish all movies were still like this, with the exception of a few, I wonder what these guys would have done with some electric guitars \m/

  • That is an "exuberant" video. =p

  • Also, watch that woman at 3:10 go from happy face to lip bite... It makes me lol every time. XD

  • With all those kids and their happy faces, I bet those two never had a better time onstage. <3

And Harpo must be a piano's worst nightmare... I'm surprised this one didn't begin to dissolve under his hands. XD

Easily one of my favorite clips of them. :3

  • 2:58 is the closest thing in the world to making me believe in a god. That moment is just perfect and almost brings tears to my eyes.

  • Actors back then had real talent. Marx bros forever. Funniest brothers of all time.

  • they could have been professional musicians. ...i wonder how many of those children went home and said...ma, i want a harp or a piano !

  • 4:45 is probably one of the most beautiful noises that i have ever heard

  • What a great moment captured in cinema - love the Marx brothers classic films.

  • I bet that little boy standing next to him went and leant to play the piano!!

  • What can you say?!

  • I like at 2:58, where Harpo holds the harp and looks up.

  • Very, very great actors...

  • Whether Chico plays for older gals, eyeing them (the womanizing scamp), or for kids, it's all good. And even if it's a bit scripted for the kids to laugh, you know they are enthralled. Then it goes over the top w/ Harpo- who shifts gears entirely on his real passion. I've always loved every bit of their films but the harp moments were the best. Old school practice, practice,...

  • its so funny how he play but his hands rythm is so smooth.

  • They have clever and subtle humor, self-deprecating humor, impeccable timing, astonishing wit, extraordinary musical talent, and brilliant comedic writing. Watching their movies and these short clips on Youtube is always enjoyable and brings back great memories.

  • Great stuff, still after all these years.

  • The marx brothers always made me laugh and they loved to make children laugh too.

  • I love these guys!

  • "If you've ever seen a Marx brothers picture, you know the difference between him and me. When he's chasing a girl across the screen it's Him. When he sits down to play the harp, it's Me. Whenever I touched the strings of a harp, I stopped being an actor." --Harpo Speaks

  • @lotsandlotsofbubbles Beautiful words to live by.

  • @stealth I feel same too. His whole expression changes his body language changes. Its like he is some other place alltogether.

  • American treasures...................

  • I Think Harpo was always in a Trance when Playing the Harp...Nothing could stop the Beauty From flowing

  • lucky kids

  • Everybody is laughing until Harpo sits down behind the harp. After that, you could hear a pin drop.

  • Chico learned piano with his uncle and had no formal (school) training. Just amazing talent. Harpo also had no formal training in the Harp. Which is amazing since just to learn the basics takes you 7 years. I know people that can't believe he developed his technique by himself. True masters from a time when movie artists were amazing musicians. Today even music performers (let's call them that), can't play anything.

  • The taller girl standing directly behind Chico looks a lot like a young Annette Ruderman (I don't remember her maiden name). Ruderman studied violin with Peter Meremblum but gave up her career when she married flutist Marty Ruderman and raised a family. She would have been about 13 at the time.

It was typical for many of the kids in the Meremblum and other orchestras to appear as extras in movies, as many were used to performing in front of audiences.

  • When I first saw a Marx brothers movie (I can't quite remember which one) I truly could not believe they actually played- they were too great! But now, I can't be mistaken- the Marx Brothers were extrememly talented!!

  • I love at 4:45 when he starts playing what I can only describe as slap harp, it sounds just like a very well made music box.

  • I like harpo alot because he has the greatest sense of humor hes funny and he was really great with the harp. Love the Marx Brothers.

  • Love this movie and this scene! They are very talented and love how they play!

To bad they don't make movies like this anymore; so sad. :(

  • Amazing talent. I laughed as hard as the kids did, especially at the silly trick with the seat.

  • Imagine if they had the recording equipment we have now to record this. I would love to hear the harp more clearly. The sound was overwhelming the mic...

  • Staggeringly beautiful. They were truly the greatest.

  • I love how they're entertaining the kids as they play. It makes the performance that much more awesome.

  • -True Harpo at 2:57. An angel actually

  • @ericberner I always felt he was looking up at God at that moment and thanking Him for giving him the talent to play the harp.

  • Harpo makes me cry happy tears every time with his genius

  • FinsoCMcCoy: yeah that thumb thing is awesome :)

  • At 3:25 the girl you see through the harp is officially horny for Harpo.

  • Their Amazining!! My favorite part is 4:44 to 4:59 is the coolest way to play harp; and it sounds really cool!!

  • Is that a metronome i can ever so slightly hear while chico is playing?

  • I remember the Marx Brothers Movie on the Saturday afternoon tv. My grandmother would always cry after Harpo's solo on his harp.......Its so nice to see and hear it again........

  • My favorite part 4:44 to 5:01. That is the most beautiful harp playing Ive heard and might.

  • @MRcool013 I do believe you are close. How lovely and such a splendid comment. Sincerest wishes to you.

  • That guy banged a lot of chicks, apparently.

  • @001bf fucking great comment, lard. At least you have some inteligence - otherwise you wouldn't have got here.

  • oh that harp solo by harpo is so amazing i out it on my ipod and fell asleep on the 3rd time like dead asleep i love harpo he was my favorite

  • The part that gets me every time is the captivated look on the two girls faces at 5:34. Brings a tear to my eye without fail.

  • @staypuff she looks kinda bored

  • In this scene, Chico on the piano makes me feel happy, makes me want to smile. And as for Harpo on his harp. . .so beautiful and angelic, kinda makes your heart melt a bit. . .(I know its kinda cheesy to say, but its true) I wouldnt be suprised if we were in the afterlife, still playing with tha boyish grin on his face X-P

  • ahhhmazing <3

  • My favorite parts of the Marx Brothers films are probably the music scenes, just because of how outstanding they were. You don't see many actors this talented at so many things anymore and that's a shame.

  • @neoFLOWERBLOOMING382 You are absolutely right.

Ott: Croucho wrote in his book that one of a very few comedians that made him laugh was Charlie Chaplin that he first saw doing his act on the stage and in a front of a live audience. Later, they become friends.

  • Just having the opportunity to comment on a piece that's made me laugh and be in awe for over 40 years, is a great honour. Genius just isn't enough to describe these guys! Angels with angels!

  • so many years later they are still funny

  • One of the most beautiful scenes in cinematic history. I went from laughing to crying in about 30 seconds. God, these guys were amazing. They don't make 'em like they used to. Rest in peace, boys...

  • My favorite movie of all time
