It's ironic that they cut out some gameplay elements from the preview such as the zombies crawling under the door and through the blinds. Zombies crawling and attacking only with their upper body (Which was added in Resident Evil 3). Resident Evil 2 is the best Resident evil ,but it's just funny they cut those two specific elements and later added one of them to Resident Evil 3.

I think it's too late to really make her a main character in the series, however a cameo and allusion to her original role as the protagonist of RE2 would be pretty funny. And a nice fan service.

haha! dont suppose anyone knows how and what programs are needed to create a character model similar to the ones in re2 and 3? like with the same graphics and so on. every program i find is for making next gen models

I'm no game designer, but I think that a model is made up of the wireframe, the mesh, and the textures. The wireframe is like the bones and joints, and those determine movement, the mesh is the shape of the model, and the textures are the skin of colors on top of the mesh.

Just some stuff I know from modding Oblivion.

This is the earlier version which was scrapped for some reason... It was 60-70% complete before they decided to re-design the game from scratch... The guy who comes out of the shutter is the mutated william birkin...

that's a shame, it looks so promising and better than the real RE2. i wonder why they would decide to ditch something that could have had a high chance of being a masterpiece especially if they were 60-70% done with it...they should have just finished it, maybe they thought it was too much gore for the west but considering they got rid of it entirely means the japanese dont have it either, pretty strange...and yes that does look like birkin, he kind of looks the same now that i think about it.

even so, i think the best resident evil game ever is the released version of resident evil 2. the story is great, the characters are great too, and i dont like the blonde version of Claire showed in this video. About Birkin... I dont know xD

i dont know...i actually seemed to take a liking to RE1 better, especially directors cut...you could say its because its the first one and the first one usaully is the best because it brings you with lots of great memories to savor and when you play others in the series it makes you glad you got into it but another reason is because it seemed scarier than RE2 and i'm a fan of atmosphere in the horror genre but RE2 had its fair share of creepiness as well. i liked how eerie the police station was

yeah its a shame it didnt come out, but yeah since this is more like RE1 i probably would have found more enjoyment out of it than RE2 but i dont know...it does look better and by better i mean more creepy and eerie and ever since RE1 the series has been losing its creepy factor and going more towards the action genre which is what it is but its supposed to be horror based as well and the others dont really creep me out as much especially since capcom took away the zombies in RE4 and 5.

esta version no se lanzo al mercado, se descarto por el resident evil 2 que conocemos ahora, muchos grupos de fans de resident evil (como yo) intentan hacer una remake del juego, algo que no es facil. Se pueden sacar unos fondos del juego usando el "Biohazard 2 Trial Edition", pero nada mas que eso por ahora

Ok people who are flagging this for no reason better cut the crap. The reason the graphics aren't as good, is because this was in production in 97. So why are you guys flaming it? I didn't see anybody flaming Tekken 2 and it was released in the same year. Of course it was too late to make this RE2,but who knows. Maybe they'll start making this again, make it a little bit different, and it could probably be a new RE game.But my point is to stop flaming what could have been an awesome game.

If it was more like the fisrt one, I think i would have liked it more than the releasded version of resident evil 2. I just found it too easy and it lacked the suspense of the original. I'm all for sequels adapting and expanding but it just didn't do it for me

I think thats a popular opinion these days when it comes to Resident Evil 2. Personally I think that we probably got a better game with RE2 thanks to the story and zapping system, but the thing I miss, and want from 1.5 is the enviornment and music. I felt like the enviornments looked more realistic and did a good job of letting the players imagination run wild in terms of believing that this was possible.

Do u have a clip with Leon's superior officer in it, the guy with glasses&look a lot like Leon, saw him in RE archive art book &DC RE2 art gallary, since RE1.5 has Marvin Branagh be Leon's support partner, Robert Kendo be Claire's, each group bump into either Ada or Sherry(don't know about Ben & Chief), maybe Leon's Superior officer takes Marvin's role in RE2 which he becomes a zombie in front of ur eyes, maybe, Anyway, is there a clip with Leon's superior officer in it, or he just a drawing?

Ah, RE1.5, yes, the only thing I perfer is RE2's blood popping, this one is going with Original RE1, the graphic for RE2 is slightly better, Capcom improves graphic each year, with Re2 better than 1, RE3 then 2(a bit), then RECV, now a day, all CG. Anyway, I'm sure fan of Orginal RE1 will like this one, if final version of RE2 hadn't been released, I would be cool with this one

when i worked for capcomusa this game was one of the best kept secrets around the office. Eventually though we got to play several demo's of the game which was quite fun although repetative after a while while it did resemble RE1 i actually like this version better then the released RE2 as it was longer and more enviroments.

I remember seeing this preview for the first time in 1997. I had received a playstation underground demo disk in the mail. I had accidentally pressed all four buttons the controller at the same and up popped this sneak peak for Resident Evil 2.

This version looks pretty good, but it was scrapped for reasons that it resembled the orginal Resident Evil.

I wish they could make this version and sell it for a cheap price just for those who wanted to experience this gameplay.

Im pretty sure that sound is a shotgun sound. it just doesnt have the sound of pumping another round. it sounds just like the RE2 shotgun
