  • My pleco absolutely loves raw shrimp! Guess he's not alone.

  • My Pleco,Corycat,Bala,Platie,Male,Female Betta,Pictus Catfish had eat my Fiddler Crab and whats left is the huge Claw .-. (His name was Fiddy)

  • That's a jose (Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus), not a gibby (Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps). Jose's grow much more slowly (compared to P. gibbiceps) once they get to about 12", and generally only get to 16" (as opposed to 20" with P. gibbiceps).

  • eat.....spit......eat......spit........

  • is it ok to have a pleco in a tank that has crushed coral mixed in withthe substrate?

  • @boobyjboob, Not a good idea.

  • That pleco is huge, look at that mature albino bristlenose next to his head.

  • i bet u got the gibby name from icarly!

'' hey bitch i wana be famous '' cute pleco!

  • u have some nice cory's

  • Corydoras Metae ;-)

  • i tried to give my two corn but they dident give shit about it ;'O

  • will my smaller pleco eat store bought shrimp

  • Sure. I feed my Oscars frozen Brine shrimp every so often and the Pleco loves scrounging around the bottom eating the shrimp that lands on the gravel and rocks. He's usually pretty shy when the lights are on but he comes right out for that no problem.

  • i didnt know htey eat shrimp? also they eat cucumbers they luv them so feed them that bout 1 time a month and he will grow huge

  • sweet looking pleco... what type is it?

  • aww tats so cuuuuuuuuuuuute :P that's pretty cool. can you feed em frozen, off the deli counter, shrimp? (well not frozen but like the temperature of the water)

  • they eat shrimps also not algae only?

  • plecos eat bloodworms, cucumber, zuchini, algae, lots of things

  • oh ok...

  • Depends on the pleco completely, you can't really make a statement like that.

  • plecos have a very varied diet, i feed mine algae wafers, shrimp, catfish pellets and blood worm.

  • @cyberfish104 there omnivores so yee

  • Can someone tell me how my Pleco could survive out of the water for 4 hours?

    watch?v=Tngmu9enjEM

  • Nice Pleco, what kind is it?

  • Ah rite, plenty of room then. Thanks.

  • Hmm, what size tank have you got him in?

My nearest aquatics store sells Plecos and they seem to grow quite big because the Plecos that he sells are kept in three feet long tanks. I've asked the shop owner if they out-grow a three feet tank and he says that they can.

  • He's in a 120gallon (60x18x26) aquarium

  • @tRiP69666 ive had mine for about 2 years and he was in a 20 gal long for about one year. Now hes in a 55gal and about 1ft long and the other is about 10 inches but the foot long is much wider than the other one.

  • @tRiP69666 Is gibby still alive i hope so myne died today =(

  • its not a gold spot at all its a gibbi, mines about the same size as that kept with malawi's

  • It is a gold spot, I have both. Its a lovely fish though.

  • you're the devil, poor fish :(

  • my pleco looks like him but my pleco is way shyer

  • mines name is kirby

  • nice pleco but its a gold spot not gibbi.. still nice tho cause of the sail fin.

  • hmmm. i was wondering what you feed massive plecs like this one. do you just throw chunks of frozen shrimp in there? do you give him big pieces of vegetables too? tablets? (i know hikari makes those "massivore" tabs.)

    thanks for posting.

  • Nice fishes

  • I thought they only eat algee and vegetation, do they like meat then?

  • there are alot of different species. some mostly herbivorous, others omnivours, and others which are mainly carnivours.

  • My aunt had one of those dark, spotted plecos with an African cichlid. No joke, it was about a foot and a half long at death, age unknown. She got it from a reg. pet store awhile ago. Neither of us knew he'd get THAT big.

PS, it was a 50 gallon tank. He was fed on algae flakes.

  • Nice fishes ☆☆☆☆☆

  • he's pretty:) I bought a couple little baby plecos a couple of weeks ago. Hoping one of them will get big enough to be able to go in with my oscar (long time to wait! they're only about 2 inches each + the oscar's closer to 10)

They love the zucchini I put in for them, and the giant log my housemate gave me from her oscar's tank since it's COVERED in algae. I can't wait until they get bigger, the adults are absolutely beautiful.

  • they can actually grow to 20"...

  • How big is your pleco? I have one but he's just a baby :X

  • The pleco is around 9 inches. It hasn't grown much lengthwise since the video but it is starting to get a thicker body.

  • How did you get him to grow so big?

  • varied diet of veggies and meat and lots of space

  • meat? what kind? Mine is in a ten gallon tank with lots of food to eat. I have had him for about a year but he is still about 2-3 inches long. I want him to grow at least to 5 inches.

  • market shrimp like he's eating in this video, squid, haddock, pollock, octopus, chopped turkey heart/liver (have to make sure to take all the fat off first, fish don't handle mammalian fat well). I usually feed that to my other fish but this guy will gobble it all up too. He stayed about 3 inches for 6 to 8 months and then all of a sudden had a huge growth spurt. He's been in my 120 since I bought him 2 years ago.

  • So in a 10 gallon he won't grow big at all?

Could I give him a bit of chicken?

  • you could try a small piece of cooked chicken. Don't leave it in too long or try it the night before a water change since meatier foods spoil water quicker.

Also different species of plecostomous grow different sizes. Some stay small (ancistrus bristle nose, rubber lip, inspectors)and would do just fine in a 10gallon.

  • Mine is one of those brown spotted ones. The most common of plecos.

  • i have 2 plecs and my name is gibby :D

  • The pleco will be 3 years old in January, and the cory is about 2.5 years.

  • how old is the cory and pleco?

the pleco has a beautiful dorsal!

  • what kinda cory is that? an adolfi or panda?

  • was sold as a panada. Thanks for watching.
