That's a jose (Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus), not a gibby (Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps). Jose's grow much more slowly (compared to P. gibbiceps) once they get to about 12", and generally only get to 16" (as opposed to 20" with P. gibbiceps).
Sure. I feed my Oscars frozen Brine shrimp every so often and the Pleco loves scrounging around the bottom eating the shrimp that lands on the gravel and rocks. He's usually pretty shy when the lights are on but he comes right out for that no problem.
aww tats so cuuuuuuuuuuuute :P that's pretty cool. can you feed em frozen, off the deli counter, shrimp? (well not frozen but like the temperature of the water)
My nearest aquatics store sells Plecos and they seem to grow quite big because the Plecos that he sells are kept in three feet long tanks. I've asked the shop owner if they out-grow a three feet tank and he says that they can.
@tRiP69666 ive had mine for about 2 years and he was in a 20 gal long for about one year. Now hes in a 55gal and about 1ft long and the other is about 10 inches but the foot long is much wider than the other one.
i need someones help please..i bought my pleco the waffer chisp and he doesnt eat them i have two an albina and i guess jsut a regular brown spotted one...i dont know what to feed them to make them eat besides them sucking the tank walls...and i would like to grow them big fast cana nyone help me?

I hate this stupid fish...I once had an aquarium and they ate all of my fishes...then I gave it up and wanted to flush the fucker down the toilet but he attached so I had to throw paper in the toilet to get rid of the devil
hmmm. i was wondering what you feed massive plecs like this one. do you just throw chunks of frozen shrimp in there? do you give him big pieces of vegetables too? tablets? (i know hikari makes those "massivore" tabs.)
My aunt had one of those dark, spotted plecos with an African cichlid. No joke, it was about a foot and a half long at death, age unknown. She got it from a reg. pet store awhile ago. Neither of us knew he'd get THAT big.
PS, it was a 50 gallon tank. He was fed on algae flakes.

he's pretty:) I bought a couple little baby plecos a couple of weeks ago. Hoping one of them will get big enough to be able to go in with my oscar (long time to wait! they're only about 2 inches each + the oscar's closer to 10)
They love the zucchini I put in for them, and the giant log my housemate gave me from her oscar's tank since it's COVERED in algae. I can't wait until they get bigger, the adults are absolutely beautiful.
meat? what kind? Mine is in a ten gallon tank with lots of food to eat. I have had him for about a year but he is still about 2-3 inches long. I want him to grow at least to 5 inches.
market shrimp like he's eating in this video, squid, haddock, pollock, octopus, chopped turkey heart/liver (have to make sure to take all the fat off first, fish don't handle mammalian fat well). I usually feed that to my other fish but this guy will gobble it all up too. He stayed about 3 inches for 6 to 8 months and then all of a sudden had a huge growth spurt. He's been in my 120 since I bought him 2 years ago.
you could try a small piece of cooked chicken. Don't leave it in too long or try it the night before a water change since meatier foods spoil water quicker.
Also different species of plecostomous grow different sizes. Some stay small (ancistrus bristle nose, rubber lip, inspectors)and would do just fine in a 10gallon.
That isnt a gibby that a gold spotted pleco L1!!!

Could I give him a bit of chicken?

you could try a small piece of cooked chicken. Don't leave it in too long or try it the night before a water change since meatier foods spoil water quicker.
