I commented on an interview of Ken Jeong in the Hang Over and got voted down bc I said jeong's character was feminized, caricaturized, and foreignized.
The most popular reply to my comment: name one asian person who is funny and doesn't use that type of character? So I sent them this video.
these images have been so ingrained that people dont' question them and in fact defend them. I'm not hating on asian actors who take these roles, i'm taking on the script writers that wrote it
@amkd215 all poems dont have to have a rhyme its a free flow poem came around in the late 1800's Emily Dickinson got famous off them. i dont like too much rhyming myself sometimes it distracts from the work looking through the dam thesaurus tiring to find a damn word that will work. but if you can do it well its so much skill.
@mcSHTT The whole point of his poem is to show how Asians in general, despite their talent or individual attributes, assume stereotypical roles in the media. He's criticizing the entertainment industry. He shows that the real artists struggle.
@BestKEpt578 Also, he was trying to make a point that Asian performers are usually forced to take on these roles because they have bills to pay and there aren't a lot of openings...
