i love this scene. Nic Cage always has so much passion in his movies, especially in his new one i just saw called "Trespass". Its a gut clenching thriller and Nic delivers like he always does, in such a stong and poignant way. both these movies are the bomb. bitly. com/o7TwhG
I love it! I was in this movie Nicholas Cage was a really nice guy and so was Spike Jones the Director, fantastic! This is a great movie, see more of me! "click my name" I love you all!
Duality at its finest equation, kick ass movie man, I see the deeper issues in addiction now and see the cure coming soon. I feel like a kid man its all great...are you Gmen ready to fly in my space ships? Its gonna be a dramatic ending to the cause and effect,, right=on georgey are you ready to go fishing man, smoke a J
this is amazing. i turned on my computer because i'd remembered this scene and wanted to find it. i typed "adaptation" into the youtube search and this came up first! amazing acting eh?
Hey, this is one of my favorites, I like A Beautiful Mind as well, there is a similar theme in here that I see. Its really all about the mind though isnt it? This has alot to do with the basis of addiction and self assasination by his nemisis. I like how there was double duality in the way in which he became the whole story even though the story was supposed to be about the Orchid man, have you ever watched The Fisher King, its about image and illusions as well, this is great art about life...
Is the allegory to the movie that he becomes one in the end? That was my take on it, so many references to duality, then you never see them in the same bedroom until he becomes closer to becoming whole like he was as a child, this really is much like the wizard of oz or the Darkside of the moon.
Self reflected image based upon his duality and low self esteem.. a very psychological depiction of becoming an artist of life, this scene seems like its about coming to grips with his past illusion
I first saw this movie when it was in the movies many years ago and I still remember this line: You are what you love, not what loves you. it's brilliant! I cannot believe how much I love this movie!
Heh I figure most people will miss the fact that the scene is an ironic twist on Charlie's early remark in the movie about not wanting to have the characters learn "profound life lessons". A hilarious, well and paradoxically relevant/irrelevant scene in one of the greatest movies of our time.
Hmm, my point just was that the reference was in the very early part of the movie and this scene in the very end - I just catched it in my second viewing. And what with the below comments remarking the scene touching - I just found it absurdly cliché in an entertaining way. But by all means, keep up the snappy cunt-naming ;)
why are there two gene wilders in this scene?

Its crazy how you can tell which one is Charlie and which one is Donald even though they look exactly alike.

Of course most people will miss it, only you are capable of noticing something that obvious. Cunt.

Lol yeah. The movie at that point had become the very thing the Kaufman character claimed to not want to write earlier.
(a love story with guns and action and profound life lessons) I think its rather clever, gutsy writing. Great!
