It is unfair to denigrate this young man. He is far too much a showman. This gets in the way of playing music. His teachers are at fault. I have experienced far too many students, brilliant in their academic studies, from China who arrive in Los Angeles and Vancouver who seek out Russian Piano teachers. The students musical theory is minimal...so minimal it is almost impossible for them to understand what they are playing due to their Asian teachers. So they play like automated music boxes.
Nothing against him, but he did play the chords on the main theme wrong several times. Maybe the arm lifting was too dramatic. Sure, it adds a theatrical element to the music, but why sacrifice the tone?
very nice if you scratch out the sound and listen to the way he plays this you can understand how good his playing is that would be a disaster if the piano sounded like that to the audience in the crowd

I just wish I could hear him play in a more suitable environment. The acoustics in the place are horrible.

He plays the song with so much fire and spirit.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. When I meant amateur I meant that hes not an internationally acclaimed pianist.
