loked like u cheated sorta cause after a epic magic and sword battle he doesnt even flinch. so you shot him in the head and he dies instantly. lol ur just like, "u know what? screw it!"
i never played F2 (i will buy F3 PC) so i gotta ask - it seems like half the moves u do in order to defend yourself in combat are done automatically. i want to attack but it comes off as a parry, u want to charge an attack but it comes off as a block) etc. like the game is designed to protect u. doesnt it feel that way when u play?
@adarwinter Actually, I feel like the only real way to protect myself is by having a fast and powerful offense - attacking them before they attack you. This is why I often use ranged over melee, and why I often use a ghoul augment in a weapon - otherwise I'm constantly potting.I think this is because I personally like ranged, and so am more inexperienced in the more nuanced skills (like blocking) of melee. It seems as if you know those nuances (like blocking) more, which is why you feel that way.
@marginis in games with swords i prefer the melee combat and i love a good defensive play. i think assassins creed put to much advantage into defensive play but it is a step in the right direction IMO. p.s. - what is "potting"? also, u said that defense in F2 is a good offense - isnt it kinda like saying that button mashing and attacking all the time is the way to go since defense is garbage in F2?
@adarwinter Potting = using potions (in this case, healing potions). And my opinions on what makes a good defense in Fable 2 are based on my style of play. Being able to dispatch enemies before they get close enough to hit me is my defense, whereas you might prefer countering. Like I said, I prefer ranged. So no, I'm not encouraging button mashing. Headshots are the way to go =P.
@marginis he he. very well than :) im just trying to figure out how deep and well balanced the combat system in F2 is. in F1 it was very simple but it worked - either u attack, therefor - open, or u defend, therefor immobile and not dangerous. with this one button does all method im feering the balance is gone and if u tap the attack button fast enough , or hold it then release, hold then release, u will be BOTH on the offense AND on defense in melee and the game will auto-fight for you, sorta.
@adarwinter Lionhead's goal when making the game was to make it (something along the lines of) "simple enough to pick up and play for the casual gamer, but deep enough for a hardcore player to get into". And they did a pretty good job in my opinion. You COULD just button mash, but unless you get those quick button combinations and good button press timings, you won't be breaking any records, like, for example, *cough* 250,000 points in the Colosseum *cough*.
@adarwinter As clarification, headshots are faster kills than button mashing (typically), and I promote quick kills, therefore headshots. Unless of course you're using the red dragon. In which case button mashing is probably faster.
Loved the finishing move there... man... nothing ends a fight like 3 point blank shots to the face. Horror is just being a little slut. Thinks he's the only one who can counter. Totally agree with you, there is no one way to fight.
omg! are u guys total noobs!:S dude countering is so fucking easy! i do it all the time! sorry but......thats noobish right there like ive done 1000 of counters like omg....thats sad sorry but it is
Well some people are better at certain things. I don't counter that often but (disregarding the fact I never really try to) I combine different moves that are more effective, like an aimed time control and flourish, and I'm really good with quick aim headshots and am the master of the quick reload.
So basically, to everyone their own - though I'm sure you're great at counters, I'm probably better than you at... well, at least one thing.
man ill give u a tip, try to hold x button that meens ur blocking right? while ur blocking and u wait for the right time for him to hit u u tap x and bam counter that way if u miss the timing u wont get hit
@copypacercopypacer You can get max skills by killing a lot of respawning enemies (like guards) early in the game, or use the experience glitch with a second controller, which is much faster. I have done both.
@marginis how do you do the experience glitch? I've tried finding it and all i can find is discarding things you already know then buying them back, but thats just reduntant i don't see how you make more on that, do you do it differently?
@icerain2345 It's really simple. Plug in a second controller, press start on that controller, pick any character but do not choose a save. That way the co-op character inherits the skills of the main character. When the co-op character is in the game, go into the menu (with the co-op character). Use Y to get rid of all your skills, and in return get general experience orbs. Then exit the game with the co-op character.
@marginis Then all the general experience orbs will be on your main character. Level him/her up, and then repeat, using the second controller to enter the game as a co-op character again. Oh, and make sure the slider is set all the way to your character, so you don't only get half the experience, where the other half would be going to the co-op character (that soon won't exist).
@icerain2345 I don't know if this is the glitch you were talking about, but it's the best one out there for this purpose. Other than that, I might suggest modding your character if you have the ability. I have the ability, but have not, if you were wondering. Of course, then there's also good ol' grinding. Get dem guards!
Or I could snipe them with a ranged weapon before the can get close enough to damage me, thereby saving the limited health potions I have, as you only get a few in the spire. And it's a steel cutlass.
Counter attacks never work for me >_>
I press Y as soon as I hear the reload button but it does NOT work
