@IsobellaKatherine It's not about opposing peoples right to belief. It's opposing religion and religions effect on humanity. Google Dan Fowler for a very good example.
@Andy97009814 It seems like it's opposing rights and shit. I don't think religion should impact things like welfare of others. Like World Vision US won't let LGBT people to work with them or help them. That's not right etc
@sapwn666 Few men knew how to write either. As for having their opinions respected, many were well respected. For example, Priscilla was both a tent maker and one of the most learned women in the Bible. She, along with her husband, was a close personal friend of the Apostle Paul, and she alone was the teacher of the eloquent and learned scholar, Apollos. It is even suggested by some, though never proven, that Priscilla was the author of the Biblical Book of Hebrews. Foote's assumption is sexist.
@elementalwiz Respect must be earned; it is not given freely. The thing is, science and religion are mutually exclusive, unless one is willing to make a great many exceptions to one or the other (or both). There is absolutely no aspect of religion that is not born out of ignorance and/or fear. This is why the Catholic Church was strongest when the Bible was not available in a common language. The more the people know, the weaker the faith becomes. It's simply a matter of time.
@elementalwiz Because spirituality is inherently irrational. It is also contagious and corrosive, promotes tribalism and inhibits freedom of thought and intellectualism. There's no empirical evidence that any aspect of any faith is anything but man-made (and the Bible is not evidence of itself). No evidence exists that Jesus even existed, much less walked on water. Don't tell us to "grow up," when we live in a society that pushes god at us at every turn. We're sick of keeping quiet about it.
HAIL ATHEISTS!

The rights of an individual to practice their faith ends where the rights of another to not be encroached upon begins.

What the hell? I'm an atheist. People should be able to think whatever the hell they want.

Why does George W. Foote assume no woman wrote any of the books of the Bible? What a bigoted male chauvinist he is.
Matur1n 3 months ago
@Matur1n It's not an invalid assumption given the sexism at the time few women would have known how to write let alone have their works respected.
