We had to learn German in a day and sing it and still worry about a blizzard coming our way, and it still sounds fantastic, so I don't know what the ~hate~ is for. I was in this, and I miss All State so much. This was one of the most challenging songs I've ever had to sing, and I think we did a great job considering that we learned it and put it together in the time that we did.

Really good, a bit slow but it's ok. The only problem were the soloist. If this is really an all state choir, then I guess those soloist are like those who made it because of sight reading not really singing lol. You know what I mean, some people only make it in All State because they sight read well but sing ok.

So here is another person from texas saying.. in the choir world in Texas... those vowels would be illegal. And that is the slowist I have EVER heard this song set it. It is fast and most of it is harsh. But because I have made the all state choir 2 years in a row.. I think we can do better :)

@JonathanSharman I am vert sorry for my brother who decided to be immature. (we share a youtube account) So I find your performance although, a little on the slow side, very outstanding. Obviously you guys are the best in Delaware or you wouldn't have made the All-State choir. The peice is one of the most difficult peices I have ever studied (that and the Credo right texans? :D ) and I am a senior who has made All-State before. So to get to my point.. I am sorry my brother is stupid. :)

The accent isn't bad.

Just to let you know, though, Zigeuner is a term that most people shy away from, at least in the younger generations. It's got somewhat the same connotation as Negro in English, except referring to Gypsies instead of blacks. It's still used to refer to Zigeunersauce and Zigeunerschnitzel but that may change at some point, it's possible. The soloists had good voices, but German is not the language for them (for the most part) ;)

@DerOberstKrieger That's interesting to know. I can't seem to find the exact date, but I believe this piece was composed somewhere around the year 1839, so the word probably didn't have the same connotation in those days.
