Plante was 10 when Chopin died. He played trios with the cellist Franchomme, a good friend of Chopin's who taught at the conservatory and Alard, violinist. At Chopin's last public performance in Feb. 1848 Chopin performed a Mozart trio with Franchomme and Alard. Plante's technique is just fantastic
@MaslAlek this is from a documentary that aired on PBS around 1999 called The art of Piano. It's available on Amazon. It's a great documentary in my opinion.
quelle classe meme dans la prestance regardez comme il se tient droit comme un i...superbe pianiste j aimerai etre son fils son eleve il devait avoir une conversation passionnante
Wish the entire track could be heard well; the narrator is a slight obstacle. Since Plante was a child prodigy, his memory of Chopin's unique sound ... is like the recording here, exactly! I think Hailkayy & Berezovsky on Youtube, capture an impression of this accenting.
Absolutely precious. Thank you for posting. I have Plante's available disc recordings, but have never seen him before, let alone in a movie! I can go to sleep tonight a happy man.
90 years old. No comments.

If I can play that impossibly difficult etude when I'm 90 I'll also be very happy! I doubt it, though *sighs.

If I practise it until I am 90 I might succeed ...

Mon professeur Jean Courbin avait été son élève, et présenté par Planté à Debussy déjà très malade, avait pu jouer devant lui
Francis Planté, un des très rares musiciens à qui Debussy ait décerné des éloges

Brilliant. This is the closest we'll ever get to seeing the old Masters play.
