Babies do have high white cell counts on the DOB. I had a baby with a high white cell count of a band nutrophil of 70% with toxic changes on her DOB. Although no proof of infection. She had Iv antibiotics started on DOB,23-28% 02 blow into a humidicrib. Without the use of a vent/cpap/cannula. High white cell count not present after DOB. She had 7 days of Iv/IM antibiotics & test results kept coming back as inconlcusive test results. Thank gosh she was stable & never needed a spinal tap

no uso este tipo de aguja por la gran angulacion del bisel es un estudio necesario y los beneficios superan la aparente crueldad del procedimiento prefiero aguja con pun ta de lapiz
@Thundralight, a nephew needed this done a year or so back with only a local anesthetic, pretty similar to what they did here. Poor kid ended up traumatized by the ordeal and needed counseling before he could set foot in a doctors office or hospital again. Agreed, it should be illegal to do this to children (or probably anyone) without general anesthetic.
I had this procedure when I was 5 y/o. I still remember the pain.... and I'm 43 now. Happy to rea that nowdays they use anesthesia. This was so cruel and still now I'm afraid of seringes and needle and don't trust anymore any masked health care provider, because they just restrain all my movements without explaining me what they will do.
My Child undergone this procedure 3 days ago... but the procedure she received is different... different in the means that she was sedated... given General and local Anesthesia... and all equipments and devices are present just in case something might go wrong... probably this kid in the video was only in the Charity ward of UST... poor kid ... she was jerking ang moving due to excruciating pain.
What i think is really sad is that children that have this procedure done, and experience pain and anxiety , can be scared of hospitals for the rest of there lives. Who would want that. Not me for sure!
That's ridiculous. The fact that they didn't knock him out. A friend of mine had this done when she was seven and they injected pain medication to numb her up. She said that the procedure didn't hurt. Some people don't get it (the nurses I mean),
They knock me out every time, and I'm a teenager....they weren't going to but we made them..I'm so happy it ended up taking 40minutes because they had to drain off so much.
Why was the child awake!!! Why do they use that sothing music? I assure you this is not a nice procedure! A child and adult should be put to sleep!!! this hurts!!
IT ONLY LOOKS PAINFUL,THERE IS NO PAIN-The children and adults are given local anethetics. The procedure is as painful as a pin prick-if that.

Because doctors don't care how much they hurt the child...

This is extreamly painful and should be illegal to do this to a small child without sedation. There is absoluty no reason not to sedate him
